CHARTER CONTROVERSY: - The LAUSD board voted 4–3 to deny the charter renewal for the Locke High School located in Watts. - According to the board, Locke has been one of the district’s lowest-performing schools academically. Therefore, the board felt performance did not justify renewing the charter. - The denial, if not overturned at the county level next month, means the school will have to shut down at the end of the school year. - What this means for football? Locke could have many of its players check out and transfer to nearby schools. LA Jordan & Verbum Dei among others could benefit from that.
