The average high school head football coach stipend is around $7,000. Fluctuating heavily
For that, they’re expected to coach year-round, run a program, mentor kids, manage parents, recruit their own halls, fundraise, break down film, coordinate staffs, and be available almost 24/7.
Football coaches are grossly underpaid for what we ask of them.

Best programs I’ve been with have HC that have been actively involved with their Lower levels and showing up when they can. It means a lot to the kids at that level

Never understood H.S. coaches who ignore freshman or JV programs. That’s the future of your varsity team. Then they complain about no depth, culture, or players ready for varsity. If you only coach varsity, you’re not building a program—you’re just coaching a team.

The coaches and parents who allow this to go on are the problem. Instead of teaching kids how to play the game the right way and show respect for the opponent they’re worried about getting viral attention. Embarrassing.

I’m no final four coach but I 100% agree with @CoachUnderwood the reason I coach is the relationships I’ve made with my players. Saw a couple of my old guys at Madison central this past, week. The relationships I’ve made over the years makes hard nights like tonight worth it!
