Things I have learned with HS kids 1) Big words and education matter very little 2) Raising your voice is effective IF you don't always do it to get your point across 3) The great ones will over work 4) IT IS FUN and REWARDING but at the same time STRESSFUL and ANNOYING 🤣

Just football practice and a lift. Senior varsity starter. Multiple D1 offers. Pretending that somehow running around back and forth at this point of the year for high school football players (outside of practice) is just running a firehose into a solo cup is our ego or our past learned behavior bias suggesting it’s what is needed. Now imagine what a day of 7-7 looks like..(I don’t have to I’ve had kids wearing HR monitors before).

Rec league teams play a season, you take the best players from those teams and play a short travel season/tournament would be 100 fold more beneficial for development of children than playing 9 months of baseball and 100 games per year. Argue with a wall.

I have found most high school athletes (that want to be great) work out too much instead of too little. Pros don't workout less bc they are strong enough, they work out less bc they are smart enough. I am NOT saying do NOT work hard, but find WHAT to work hard on and WHEN.

We’re staying between the minimal and optimal range on prilepin’s chart this summer Why? Shouldn’t this be the best time to go optimal to maximal? A lot of kids are going to have inconsistent nutrition and stay up past midnight before a 6:30 AM workout. Recovery is at a premium

How long you can do boring… Will determine how far your numbers go. There’s nothing fancy about good Sprint, Jump, and Strength Training. It’s all the same boring stuff done well over and over again. Athletes get bored before they hit their ceiling

@CoachWebbAHS Not a qualified S&C but I use a couple as resources 180 reps for someone who’s never lifted is insane That’s like triple the volume I’d expect The jumps all being intensive plyo’s done in single sets is also very weird I expect lots of pulls and strains incoming

Volleyball S&C… how bad is this? An athlete that I’ve helped train is sending me what her HS coach is doing with bringing in a “volleyball specific weight trainer” These pictures are the first two days of their summer training for majority of girls who have never lifted🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
