Tons of great info in @Coach_CThib's new column today! The "over 40 lifter" section is GOLD. t-nation.com/training/quest…

@ChrisShugart Intros are like foreplay: its there to get into the real thing, no more
English

@Coach_CThib I always remind myself how I hate to read recipe articles online. They're always like 2000 words of stories about the author's kids, THEN the info I clicked for: the actual recipe, ingredients, bake time, etc. Shut up and give me the recipe. I have stuff to do. 😀
English

@ChrisShugart Personally I HATE writing intros and conclusions! But I learned how to write intros in school: 1-2 sentences hook to get people curious. 1-2 sentences to mention the actual subject. 1-2 sentences to break down into 3 sub topics
English

@Coach_CThib We do a lot of intro editing these days – mostly by removing intros. People have less time, so intros have to be short and to the point. Always a good idea to get the "big idea" out in the beginning.
English

@tonygentilcore1 I think it would be a cool article. A lot of gen pop clients actually want to feel like an athlete... so they turn to Crossfit (and often get injured)
English

@Coach_CThib True, true, true.
The Strength side of the spectrum is pretty similar. The other stuff = more nuance.
Like I said: very watered down Tweet. Maybe I should write a post on this....🤔
English

@tonygentilcore1 I was only referring to the strength training component though; sprinting and jumping are a different animal
English

@Coach_CThib I mean, you know, most gen pop clients can’t even skip so I’ll often pump the brakes on them sprinting, but I’m with you...they’re still squatting, deadlifting, doing sled work, thrusting, and throwing stuff.
Just like “athletes.”
English

@ChrisShugart One of the best example is a master olympic lifter that I trained with. He was 69 and lifting 5 days a week and doing sprints too. This year he competed ... at 84 years of age!
English

Over 40? Here's the type of training that needs to be part of your program. (My latest science-based quick tip.) t-nation.com/training/tip-t…

@ChrisShugart Just in case I do a decent « Sound of Silence » and « Father and son »

@CoachRyanHorton @CoachAlanBishop However, there are outliers because of training specificity. Eric Hayden could do an extremely high number of reps with 80% on the leg press. WAY above 20 reps
English

@CoachAlanBishop @Coach_CThib If you’re completing 21+ reps then there is no way the weight is your true 80%. 🤔 Am I missing something here?

Load bar with 80% of 1 rep max and complete as many reps as possible

@CoachRyanHorton @CoachAlanBishop That was 18 years ago and I took it from Poliquin. In my most recent work I have adjusted it.

@MashElite @mad_lifts_15 Are you sure he’s not like those Cubans in little league World Series and is actually 33?
