Renderings of Creighton University’s new on campus hockey arena have been released. Sources say Mark Walter ‘82 has made a sizable donation to fund a full transition to D1 hockey by the 28-29 season. Arena is expected to be ready by 2030. Exciting news from Omaha!

A long, long time ago, probably 20 years ago, Jack Parker told me "if it's an NHL rule, it should be an NCAA rule, we're developing players for that league." I'm a big believer in believing in what Coach Parker says.

The Glasgow Clan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 have signed Cole Kodsi 🇺🇸 from the Orlando Solar Bears 🇺🇸 in the ECHL. Last season, the 25 year old played 56 games and recorded a stat line of 11 goals, 9 assists, 69 PIMs and a +/- of -1.

Neck guards and cut resistant fabric for ankles and wrists has been proposed by the rules committee for all players starting in 2027-28.

On diving: they discussed a harsher penalty or a progressive penalty. Ultimately they advised conferences to call diving/embellishment as written.

Starting this upcoming season a goalie trapezoid will be implemented to align with the NHL. Hand passes will be allowed in the D zone. Timeouts are no longer allowed in a situation where a team can’t change (after an icing, etc.)

The rules committee today proposed the continued use of audio and player tracking devices for in-game use but they did not recommend video on the bench. A consensus wasn’t reached per @Coach_Large, committee chair.

Starting with the 2026-27 season, Division I men's ice hockey games will use a trapezoid area marked below the end line. Goalkeepers will be allowed to play the puck below the goal line in this area of the ice, but not outside this area toward the corners of the rink. This aligns with National Hockey League rules and markings. Division III men's ice hockey will add this for the 2027-28 competition season to allow planning for this adjustment.
