Excited to announce that I will be joining the defensive staff at Georgia State. I want to thank Coach Mcgee and Coach Clark for giving me the opportunity. Getting to coach FBS football is the opportunity of a lifetime that I am extremely grateful for. This opportunity is a culmination of 100s of people around me and is the sum of their effort and work. I want to thank my wife for being the absolute rock and foundation of our family and for going on this adventure with me. I want to thank Coach Moore, Coach Chandler, Coach Tygard and Coach Mainor, this opportunity happened because each took a chance on me. And most importantly I want to thank all of my previous players, all of you are like my children. I don’t recall ever making a tackle or INT, but this doesn’t happen without all of you doing those for me and for each other. I love each of you immensely and can’t thank you enough for the past 6 years. Finally the end to this word salad, I was tempted to make an announcement like one of the cool kids and just release a graphic. But part of what got me here was authenticity and I’d like my babies to look back at this and know that they can accomplish their dreams too just like dad did. I didn’t play Division 1 football, become a graduate assistant for a big program or come from a well connected coaching tree. Instead I started at my small Alma mater with a team of 30 goofballs and maybe the smallest staff in Florida. I still feel like the young 23 year old first time coach from that year, but in turning 30 in a couple of months I realize I’m no longer the young gun. If I had to give advice to any young coach that was chasing a dream it would be this. Be unapologetically authentic, even when it’s unpopular. Be fanatical in your pursuit of your obsession even when others question it. Always have a vision and a plan and match your daily habits to achieving those goals. Don’t apologize for wanting more, be undaunted in your growth. #NewAtlanta
