Luke Falk shared a Mike Leach story that stopped me cold: Two kids. One rich. One poor. Every training camp, Coach Leach told his team about these 2 kids. The rich kid has two choices. Get soft. Get entitled. Expect everything handed to him because he was handed more. Or take the resources, the coaching, the opportunities, and compound them into something greater. The poor kid has two choices too. Say nobody gave him anything. Blame the world. Make his circumstances the reason he never became what he could have been. Or outwork everyone in the room. Luke said the locker room had both. Kids from wealth. Kids from nothing. Kids with every advantage. Kids who scraped for every inch. Same choice for all of them. Ownership or victimhood. Fuel or excuse. The rich kid can waste the head start or build on it. The poor kid can drown in the deficit or weaponize it. Greatness doesn't come from where you start. @Coach_Smith_1 Kids have fun and compete. Better for offense, you get to run routes and throw and catch. Defense sucks. Hot take 7on7 defense is different because the ability to read run from pass is removed. That is the foundation to defensive football.

Coaches, I have some serious questions. What positives do you get out of 7 on 7? Do they outweigh the negatives? Are these off season 7 on 7 events helping players get better or is it creating bad habits? Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

We installed this vs Tite a few years ago after seeing Coastal run it. Only ran it twice. Curious if anyone’s running it much? What do you call it? Insert Read?

@CoachDanCasey It’s not QB follow. Oline blocks zone dive the wr down blocks to the DE and the slot seals pslb. Fb cleans up the c gap. Flexbone refers to it at as zone option. This tag cheapens the concept and removes the option element.

The comical thing is when you go 2-6 you're going to get ripped apart> Im not saying the spread is a bad offense, but too many people run it that have zero business running it!!! 1. A running qb or one that can really sling it. 2. WR that can get separation and win 1x1 matchups. etc etc...
