When I first saw Riley in 7th grade I knew she was one of the Real Ones. Ever since she’s never made me think anything else, she’s only gotten better. She’s obviously talented, but also has worked incredibly hard for this. She’s done so much for our program! Im so thankful I get to coach her, and so hyped about this for her. @nwbearcatwbb is definitely getting One. Proud of you Ri! Let’s go!!🏀🔥

I hope young players notice that in these high caliber basketball games, they are decided by the unsung "role" guys. Yes Wemby and SGA are great, but watch the battle of the 3rd or 4th "best" player or even the 6th man. These are where championships are won and lost.

That’s a huge win on the road to open the WCF. OKC unloaded so much over and over and SA took it all and came up big over and over. Wow, “compete” as a word was an understatement in that one.

The last 4 years coaching these 2 ladies was an absolute honor..Paige and Leah I’m proud of you both, and so thankful J got to coach you. We will miss you bringing the positive and hard work in our program each day, but you are always family! 2 amazing people right here! This is all true but check out Brian McCormicks stuff, this has all been around. There is a continual push to reframe things in hoops today for ppl to get clicks and create a “new way-right way” 1. Actions aren’t going away(you obviously need to understand how to make reads/counters etc based on what happens in the midst of an actions you use) 2. I believe there is too much focus leant to “this is the way you should be coaching-doing in today’s game etc” Basketball has always been about advantage, but at the same time we see the best teams professionally, in college, HS utilizing actions with an understand of reads. Evolution isn’t always about leaving things behind, it’s often about cohesion. Thanks!

@tony_chapman76 We spent several years pushing for the Shot Clock in Kansas. The above thinking is the worst version of people just not want to change-When most coaches want the Shot Clock. I posted some thoughts on this a month or so back. Everyone needs SC

Been saying this for years now. Coaches somebody is going to strike gold with Ri. Absolute competitor, will battle anybody, Best IQ you’ll find, her numbers speak for themselves vs. best comp. in the state 20ppg 5reb. 2.5 2.5stls. 1,000pt scorer as Junior. Always gets it done ✅

Our girls basketball program competes in a high level league, and we used this a few years ago while we were trying to build our culture and working through losing many games while staying in the battle to build it. Our girls embraced Full Benefit. We had our best season this year. When a group embraces stating the course through critically difficult moment it’s the foundation towards growth and getting there.

@danbeckrants There’s parallels across sport, business, and the military. To one person it sounds corporate. To another it sounds sport specific. Mindset shifts work across all 3 if you have the right mindset to apply the lesson.

Why would you NOT want a shot clock? As someone who covers a state that added it, it's just made the game better.

It comes down to ppl wanting clicks. The socials-hoops age for many is based on getting likes/follows/clicks and they do it by saying “this way is a waste/pointless/this is better-I know the right way” There is context to everything. Yes game speed vs D/ reads incredibly important, but so is honing/refining certain pieces of skills, getting many reps not just live but extra touches, or in some cases a starting point for learners. We need to get away from the “this is bad don’t do it-only do my way” age of coaching on socials.

The best players in the world do 2 ball dribbling drills yet countless “player development” coaches on this all say it’s a waste of time
