According to Vail's new classifications, Stevens Pass, Washington is a "Regional Destination" with guests coming from near and far but Attitash, Wildcat and Seven Springs are merely "Local" draws. The good people of the Northeast might disagree.

@KenCCheng @liftblog It's VT law. At Smuggs they come over the loud speaker and call you out. Maybe even stop the lift. It's a culture shift, and definitely worth it. Any rule/law is impractical if not enforced.

An immediate 20% tariff on imports from the European Union is rough news for the ski industry. A large percentage of skis, snowboards, ski lifts, snowmaking, snow cats, avalanche control, hill supplies and tuning equipment come from EU countries. A $20 million gondola in containers on a ship just got $4 million more expensive while in transit.

I rather enjoyed the challenge of painting regional landscapes. It was always a puzzle to solve how to depict each ski area and multiple cardinal directions into one 2-dimensional plane. What is your favorite New Hampshire ski area?

@liftblog As an east coaster at a Boyne resort, know a lot of skiers who go to Big Sky…but not one that I trust that the skiing is worth it over JH / Revie / WB etc etc. Lifts look sick tho.

The latest and greatest at Big Sky - One&Only Gondola, Explorer Gondola, Madison 8 and the new Lone Peak Tram enclosure. No other North American resort would do any of this.
