This story just makes me remembered my time in Ajegunle, Lagos (Nigeria) I was saving my money in dollars in my firstbank dollars account with the hope of using it to travel out of Nigeria when opportunity comes. One faithful Sunday, during a church service in Ajegunle, I received a direct instruction from God to withdraw all my dollars and Sow it into church projects. I pretended I didn’t hear 😂. Church closed, I went home pretending I didn’t receive any instructions. After few days of fighting to disobey the instructions, I finally agreed to it. I went to the bank and withdrew all my dollars savings. I withdrew the money from surulere firstbank and I felt it easier to change it to naira notes at Masha but another instruction came… The money must be presented to church in dollars and I should write my name in capital letter at the back of the envelope “COACH AYERE” and the envelope should be handed over to the pastor WIFE to pray for it and bless me. I did exactly as instructed.

I’m going to Wrexham’s game tomorrow, and I’ll see Arthur Okonkwo. I’ll be going very early, so I can meet him at the players’ entrance. I’ll also try to stop him for a photo and ask a quick question, what should that question be?

That is the rewards of what you are reaping now. You can never serve God and leave empty handed. Coach enjoy the fruits of your labour with God.

He knew I had played in some notable clubs. So, I had some respect. As player to coach. But it started to deteriorate. I can’t really say why. I think it started from where I think, as a coach, you have much younger players that you want to exert some form of discipline and you know with some older players, you can’t pass your discipline effectively. So, it became tougher. I would miss a chance in a friendly game and I will get subbed out. Happened like twice. 😂😂. I’ll say it was tough love because I needed to unlearn some things in my style of play. And as striker, you know; you need to build yourself to get one chance and bury it. I learnt it the hard way. The mistake threshold I had wasn’t the same for younger players. But in all, I am always grateful for the knowledge I got from him. As he was a striker in his playing days. And as an excellent coach, I learnt a lot from him.
