SAVE THE DATE The Ryan Streem Memorial Alumni Soccer Game for Rootstown High School will be played on Saturday, July 29 at 5 p.m. — and will celebrate 30 years of soccer for the school in addition to acting as the primary fundraiser for the scholarship given out in Ryan's name.

My Portage Sports Stories column this week is a tribute to 2005 Rootstown graduate Michael Boland, who unexpectedly passed away on 8.13.21. It would be hard to find a student-athlete more decorated in 3 sports than what Boland was for the Rovers. Story: record-courier.com/story/sports/2…

Congrats to Beth Dyer and her Field softball program for winning the PTC Metro Division title tonight. Dyer and the Falcons are one of the league's most prolific teams — regardless of sport or gender! Field softball has now won titles in 2007, 08, 09, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 19!
