Pope Leo's pick to be bishop of West Virginia is a formerly undocumented immigrant who was smuggled into the U.S. in a car trunk. Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala has called for Catholics to speak out against President Trump’s treatment of immigrants. wapo.st/3PgW94e

Foreign contributions to political campaigns are banned. Trump found a loophole—crypto—allowing him to rake in hundreds of millions from foreign regimes buying influence. My @Morning_Joe Chart.

The Trump administration gave a secret, no-bid contract to the firm building the WH ballroom -- after inflating its value 3X. This time, the government pays, not private donors. nytimes.com/2026/04/25/us/…

Note the common theme across DHS funding, the reconciliation bill, and 702 extension: all three are tangled up in internal Republican squabbling. This is NOT partisan division, this is Republican incompetence. Get the news right, please.

It's true: Humanitarian aid isn't great at driving economic growth. What it excels at is saving lives. And what the Trump administration is good at is dismantling aid efforts that saved lives. A BU estimate is that more than half a million children have died so far as a result.
Senior Official Jeremy Lewin@UnderSecretaryF

Our development policy must reflect reality: no country has gotten rich through aid or UN-driven social development schemes. Every economic success story—including our own—has been powered by commerce, private sector investment and innovation, and trade-oriented growth. For too long paternalistic NGO and UN-driven development schemes have held poor nations back—crowding out private capital, fostering aid dependency and poor governance, and treating them as un-investable. No longer. Under @POTUS Trump, we have reoriented U.S. resources, across concessional, investment and blended finance flows, to catalyze private-sector led investment, growth and mutually beneficial commercial partnerships. Trade, Not Aid.

FCC rules prohibit foreign investors from owning >25% of company that holds US broadcast licenses However, foreign investors (mostly Gulf funds) expected to indirectly own nearly 50% of Paramount equity post-WB deal And Paramount now asking FCC to approve "up to 100%" foreign ownership

The Cato Institute is a libertarian think tank. It just published a 30-year study showing immigrants paid 14.5 trillion dollars more in taxes than they received in government benefits. Every single year. For thirty years. Without exception. The country was lied to. Here is what the study found.🧵

Hey, @Lawrence Don't forget that most of the companies that paid the tariffs passed those costs onto their consumers. They are keeping the extra money consumers gave them & getting a refund on the tariffs too. Average American consumers are left holding the bag again
