@ozkesali That was about the infrastructure it's running on :) Reviews are at-cost. For longer papers the cost naturally goes up. If you want a practically free version (zero marginal cost), try running it with your AI subscription!

400+ reviews served in just a couple of days! All running on free-ish infrastructure with no institutional backers. 'coarse <3 that you <3 open-source. Keep 'em coming!

@StavrosZenios @packlesshepherd If you submit directly on coarse.ink, we deny data collection to the models used. If you run it locally, it depends on whatever privacy settings you have in your subscription account.

Big update on @CoarseDotInk: you can now run reviews at ~zero marginal cost through your AI subscriptions! Just drop your paper into coarse.ink, click "Review with my subscription" and follow the instructions See coarse.ink/setup --> "Use my subscription"

@grzegorzthegood @packlesshepherd What do you mean by "the same prompt"? Coarse is indeed just an agentic harness, but it consists of many tailored prompts and a specific harness structure. If you're asking if just asking Opus 4.6 to review your paper can give you similar results: to a large extent, yes!

(though to be fair, I am also not going to use the coarse interface to carefully review the comments and mark "done" etc., since I've largely already addressed them). Overall: I see refine still strong on the margin, but for the very low $$, Coarse is *very* impressive

Did a head-to-head comparison of refine + coarse.ink today #econtwitter (I had used refine last week for one of my recent WPs, so I fed in the same version into coarse.) This is a paper reporting on a RCT, fairly standard development / applied micro design

If you have working papers that are not too polished and you're willing to let Coarse use them as demonstrations on its examples page, let us know - we'll give you endless not-for-profit full reviews as a token of appreciation. Please DM or reply.

@CoarseDotInk I wonder how many people use the service instead of writing reviews themselves. That is, ask to review others', not theirs own, papers.

Till now I ran about 5 reviews on @ refine.ink. I just pushed the same articles on Coarse. And results are almost the same. Total cost for refine: $245 Total cost of coarse: $7.33 (GPT5.4 API usage) Thank you so much!!

I coded up an open-source, not-for-profit AI paper reviewer that rivals the performance of @reviewer3com, @RefineInk, and Stanford Agentic Reviewer (according to @GeminiApp). Costs <$2! Live @ coarse.ink. Plug in paper, @OpenRouter key, and email. #econtwitter.
