#mombasa Youth across the Coast Region and Kenya in general face many challenges that include unemployment, drugs, poverty and petty crime. But the big question remains, what happens after arrest? These are some of the challenges within the CDA'S area of jurisdiction. The CDA team joined a multi-stakeholder meeting chaired by Deputy County Commissioner Kalume Kashire to discuss practical ways of rehabilitating and reintegrating offenders back into society. The forum brought together Government Agencies and legal institutions on how both reformed and unreformed offenders can be supported to rebuild their lives. #RegionalDevelopment #CoastRegion #CDA #followers #partnership

#drought The Yaghrit village was hardest hit during dry season as the nearest permanent source of water sat 100 km away. This was before the year 2022. But today, the story is changing. In 2022 CDA constructed .a water pan with a capacity of 80,000 cubic meters, strategically placed. What was once dry land is now a lifeline. Today during the dry season the water pan serves over 3,000 households. The same story unfolds for livestock about 15,244 animals depend on the water, with the number climbing to over 25,000 during drought periods. Today, instead of famillies walking endless kilometers under the scorching sun looking for water, they have the commodity near them. A CDA team visited the pan and it was full still having a big impact on the Yaghrit community. #RegionalDevelopment #CoastRegion #followers #CDA #CommunityImpact

With the early onset of the rains, CDA is in fields planting trees. The greening campaign has kicked off at CDA Chakama Farm, where the team is taking prompt action by growing trees. This season, CDA is targeting over 100,000 trees across the Coast region, working hand in hand with communities, and in an effort to curb drought. There has been persistent drought in parts of the Country. The initiative also supports the Government of Kenya directive to grow 15 billion trees by 2032, increasing national tree cover and restoring degraded landscapes. The Chakama Farm uses water from the Sabaki River. #kilificounty #followers #CoastRegion #RegionalDevelopment #CDA #drought

"CDA is committed to working hand in hand with all leaders across the Coast. When we collaborate, the region moves forward faster." CDA Chairman Mzee Mwinyi Mzee The CDA Chairman Mzee Mwinyi Mzee and the CDA Ag MD Dr Mwanasiti Bendera have begun a series of courtesy calls to coastal leaders to strengthen collaboration, explore partnership and unlock more opportunities for the region. During a meeting with Hon Tungule Charo Kenneth Kazungu, the M.P for Ganze Constituency, at his Continental Office in Nairobi, the leaders discussed possible collaboration between the Authority and the MP’s office to initiate development projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents in the constituency. The discussions focused on the persistent challenges facing Ganze, particularly the prolonged drought that has left many residents struggling with failed harvests. As a result, the area has increasingly become dependent on relief food aid. In addition, the constituency continues to face limited access to safe and reliable water sources due to the prolonged dry spells and underdeveloped infrastructure. The CDA Chairman noted that the Authority is keen on partnering with the MP’s office to explore sustainable solutions to these challenges. Among the proposals discussed was the introduction of rainwater harvesting initiatives, including the construction of water pans across the constituency. The proposed water pans would help harvest and store runoff during the rainy season, providing water for domestic use and supporting year-round farming activities. This initiative is expected to enhance food security and improve access to water for residents in the drought-prone constituency. Dr Bendera emphasized the importance of partnerships between national development agencies and local leadership in addressing long-standing socio-economic challenges and improving the living standards of communities. #RegionalDevelopment #CoastRegion #CommunityImpact #followers #kilificounty #kilifi #ganze

A courtesy call, big ideas. Today, the CDA Ag MD Dr Mwanasiti Bendera, paid a visit to the office of #Hon Khamis Chome Abdi, MP for Voi Constituency. The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration and mobilising resources to expand development projects in the Coast Region. Dr Mwanasiti Bendera was accompanied by Fredrick Mwabili from the research and planning department. CDA continues to transform lives through key initiatives especially water projects across the coastal counties and Garissa County. With over 70% of its jurisdiction being arid and semi-arid, more water projects are necessary and plans to the counties do not face water challenges. #CoastRegion #CDA #Taita #voi #RegionalDevelopment

What has CDA done for the Blue Economy?” you might ask. Well, quite a bit Through the Kenya Climate Change Adaptation Programme, (KCCAP ) Funded by the Adaptation Fund, CDA supported efforts to restore coral reefs and seagrass in Wasini, Kwale County. While the project has officially wrapped up, the ocean and the community are still enjoying the results. Healthier reefs have meant better habitats for marine life, and local fishers say they are already seeing the difference in their fishing grounds. Listen to the interview, by the Wasini BMU Chairman Muhidin Musa. #followers #CDA #coralreefs #kwalecounty #CoastRegion
