@CoastGuardCAN How many people can be transported on one of these? I ask because I'm writing a story that takes place on a small island near the north coast of Lake Superior, and there's an evacuation scene. Any info I can get would be appreciated. Thanks and God bless.

The CCGS Cape Storm recently underwent Vessel Life Extension! This important work done by Hike Metal Products Ltd included the replacement of the propulsion system, steering system, & all propeller shafting & bearings, as well as a full sandblasting & repainting of the exterior.

@TheEtymonAxiom @IrvingShipbuild Yes, the first six AOPS were Harry DeWolf class ships built by @IrvingShipbuild for the Royal Canadian Navy. The AOPS 7 and 8 are for the Coast Guard.

A new vessel launched on the water! 🚢🌊 We were in Halifax, #NovaScotia, today to celebrate the launch of the CCGS Donjek, the first of two Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships being built at @IrvingShipbuild.

Good morning, Halifax! As we progress to the launch of the future CCGS Donjek, the vessel has been rotated at land level and will be rolled onto the BOA barge. AOPS 7 will then be towed into the Bedford Basin to begin the float-off process. @CoastGuardCAN

Spring #Icebreaking operations on the Great Lakes are in full swing, with crews working long days to keep traffic moving across these inland waters. Check out CCGS Judy LaMarsh in action, assisting multiple vessels in the ice in Whitefish Bay, on Lake Superior, in early April.

New colleagues = new capabilities. 💪✈️ We recently welcomed aircraft services from @Transport_gc, including this Dash 8 and its crew. It completed test flights and then supported operations in Iqaluit, #Nunavut.

Hudson and its crews were no strangers to tragedy: in 1988, the vessel was first on the scene at the Athenian Venture explosion. Hudson’s crew bravely sailed into burning debris to search for survivors, none were found.

Learning goes beyond the classroom. Getting out on the water is crucial. 🌊⚓ Officer cadets from @CCG_Acad are currently deployed across 14 vessels from #NewfoundlandAndLabrador to #BritishColumbia, stepping into real operational roles at sea.
