@luismbat It's only a matter of time before a disaster like this happens. Humanity needs to seriously prepare for this, i.e. correcting the trajectory of asteroids which could threaten our entire civilization.

In 2029, Apophis, a ~370m asteroid, will pass just ~31,000 km from Earth. That’s ~1/10 the distance to the Moon. Inside the orbit of geostationary satellites. Visible to the naked eye. Impact risk this time is low, but the flyby could shift its future trajectory. A direct hit would mean a ~1 km crater and regional devastation. That’s why becoming multiplanetary matters.

@luismbat In that case, the regional hit and crater would be basically insignificant. The planetary things to fear are the subsequent atmospheric pollution and darkness, earthquakes and tsunamis.

@thomas_spaas Alcohol is schadelijk. Net zoals vele andere zaken of activiteiten. Wie er echter een obsessie van maakt, komt vroeg of laat tot de conclusie dat leven ook schadelijk is.

Alcohol is 1 van de meest gevoelige onderwerpen op X, naast huisdieren. Met het risico weer een boel fanatici op mijn dak te krijgen: alcohol, met mate, bevordert het sociaal contact. Sociale contacten zijn goed voor de mens, meer zelfs: essentieel voor de gezondheid.

@CoachCaroline U moet leren lezen. "Vandaag blijkt dat 48% van de single vrouwen van 35 jaar of ouder geen belangstelling meer heeft voor een relatie." Dus niet 'de vrouwen'. Wie als vrouw nog single is op 35, die heeft meestal reeds een zekere levenskeuze gemaakt, bewust of onbewust.

Vrouwen boven de 35 willen geen man meer in huis die zich gedraagt als een kind. Als mannen een relatie willen, zullen ze zich dus anders moeten gaan gedragen. Volwassen worden en hun eigen verantwoordelijkheid dragen. En leren geven wat een vrouw nodig heeft, in plaats van vooral nemen.

@MissJilianne Perhaps, but that's still a great example of parenting. Because she hands her kid all the intellectual tools and confidence required for making (or not) that conclusion later in life. You can't really expect her to deny her own beliefs.

The one on the left was from Apollo 17 in 1972. The one on the right is from Artemis II in 2026. How is it possible that the one taken over 50 years ago looks better?

@i_hate_retards_ @AJamesMcCarthy An ISO of 51200 at F4.0 is insanely high. But I get why they did that, because both the spacecraft and earth are in motion and they probably needed to handheld the camera, so any shutter time above 1/4 would result in a crappy picture.

@CobDetlef @AJamesMcCarthy Glad you explained it because most people will probably not realize that 1/4 of a second is actually a fairly long exposure and that 51200 is a very high ISO setting lol

At first glance this looks like a daytime photo- but it’s not. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Earth at night photographed quite like this. Historic.
