@JacobWolf I can’t speak for anyone else but the only reason I considered a career in esports journalism was because I was offered more than a “living wage”

It was good while it lasted, but it’s pretty clear Upcomer’s salaries were extremely inflated versus whatever you’d consider sustainable in esports or gaming journalism.
People should be making a living wage but there’s a different between that and what that site paid many.

Today is my last day with Upcomer. Just under a year and more than 400 articles later, it's been quite the ride.
I'm sad to be leaving esports journalism but there's always the chance that I'll be back. Hopefully the industry continues to grow during that time. ✌️

I strongly believe good reporting can inspire people to be engaged in their communities and with the world. That's why I became a journalist.
Writing that uses excessively flowery language and confusing sentence structure defeats that purpose.
Simple, clear writing ftw.
