We migrated all of our Lodash use to es-toolkit about a year ago at @beehiiv and went as far to outlaw Lodash in our @biomejs config lint rules. So nice to give our team much better and legible utility functions without worry they’re gonna bloat our bundles.

The best library in JavaScript today is @TossFrontend’s es-toolkit. JavaScript’s standard library is still incredibly feature poor and very hard to read. I’m very thankful the Toss team picked up the mantle from the Lodash maintainers and have built such a great library.

And he's given back all that mentorship years later. @merritt_andrew is one of my favorite people to work with and my entire first year at @beehiiv, he took a ton of time out of his day to show me how to write idiomatic, performant, and scalable Ruby and Rails.

AI is disrupting coding, but the one place I've not seen that disruption is data & infrastructure and systems. It's ok at MySQL and Postgres — but it misses a lot of the optimizations. It's also awful at ClickHouse and Snowflake. Learn them thoroughly and you'll be fine.

The biggest thing you can invest in as an engineer right now that AI sucks at: System design. I've used every model at this point and all of them are particularly awful at building scalable systems. They overindex on JSONB columns, they miss indexes, etc.
