One of the many things I love about @AbbotsfordSD is the focus on the successful transition of Indigenous students. Today @CochraneEDU and I visited our @TenBroeckSchool & John MacLure incoming 5s creating their drums and watched our @CGHBulldogs Gr 8s work on their paddles.

Shout out to the dynamic LLC Team at @Howemiddle for genrefying their non-fiction collection. Reorganizing and displaying books this way increases student access and engagement with texts. Circulation of non-fiction books has increased by 47% in ONE MONTH. 🤩 @AbbotsfordSD

I am looking at the pre-colonial history of the Indigenous people of each province. Today, I am looking at the Kwakwakaʼwakw people of Northern Vancouver Island & the Discovery Islands. Their name means Kwak'wala-speaking-peoples. 🧵1/11
