Do people really think the sun is lighting live trees on fire? In Canada? Where high winds and humidity are almost constant. Or is the sun reaching the under the canopy of trees and igniting the dead wood? I agree things are dryer but someone is lighting these fires and it’s not the angry sun gods. We need to police the forests. We have too many careless Canadians. And maybe some who think lighting fires is exciting. This is a criminal crisis as much as a climate crisis.

THIS IS NOT FAKE. THIS IS REAL. Canada is burning. Europe is on fire. New York's sky is smoke. The oceans are boiling. The heat is lethal. If you are still denying climate change you are denying the Earth a future.

Never forget that as early as the 1950s the oil industry knew this was *exactly* the crisis their pollution would create, but instead of warning the public, they funded massive, ongoing disinformation campaigns and lobbied against clean energy. Climate change isn’t a tragedy, it’s a crime.

This is what climate change looks like, by the way. We can talk about all the data, the numbers, the why, etc. But this is what it actually means. This is why it matters. Climate change didn't start the Canadian fires. But it made fire weather exponentially more likely.

We cannot let wildfire smoke like we’re seeing in the Chicago area and across the country become normal. It is a public health disaster and a flashing red light that we need real climate action immediately.

This is not far from sanctioning them for sending us cold air in the winter. What the fuck are they supposed to do about 10 million square kilometers of forest without roads to 99% of it? What's next, Argentina sanctions Chile for volcano ash? Bangladesh sanctions India for floodwater?

If capitalism truly rewarded intelligence and skill, the richest people would be scientists, engineers, and neurosurgeons. If it rewarded talent, artists, writers, and creators would be at the top.
