🚨 We are being erased quietly… one empty plate at a time. This morning, we went out searching for food not to store, but just to survive the day. The markets were overcrowded in a terrifying way. People were rushing, grabbing whatever they could, fear in their eyes after the war with Iran escalated and crossings began to close again. Prices have risen beyond imagination, and shelves are slowly emptying. We stood there… watching. Not because we didn’t need food, but because we simply couldn’t afford it. We returned home with almost nothing. What we have left might last one day… maybe two, if we divide it carefully between us & our poor furbabies, our family… and the rescued cats who depend on us for every bite. We are not trying to store food. We are trying to survive today. What hurts even more… is the silence. The support that once kept us going is fading. BATMAN -AT THE TOP OF THIS MOST URGENT LIST- AN IMMEDIATE RESCUE/PLACEMENT FOR HIM IS CRITICAL - He has developed a severe URI, conjunctivitis, and has become anorexic. We have been implementing supportive care and have now started him on IV medications, but he has lost weight and his symptoms are significant. He needs more care outside the shelter environment where he can heal and recover. Batman has allowed all handling and has been head bunting during his treatments. Batman needs more care than is possible in a shelter setting. 2. JACK SPARROW - Jack Sparrow has had a persistently low appetite and has lost weight in care despite recovering from an initial URI. His bloodwork was unremarkable and he should have additional diagnostics done with placem(rads, AUS, etc). EATING/APPETITE ISSUES ARE A DEATH SENTENCE IN THE SHELTER 3. TIMA - Tima is an obese 8 year old cat who has not been eating since arriving at the shelter. Due to his obesity, not eating puts him at risk for hepatic lipidosis. Tima would benefit from a rapid shelter exit so he can be in a low stress environment, decompress, and have his appetite improve. Tima is a sweet shy boy who has allowed for all handling. NOT EATING IS A DEATH SENTENCE IN THE SHELTER. 4. DEE DEE - Dee Dee has been diagnosed with early renal disease. Behaviorally, Dee Dee is often head bunting and soliciting attention with handlers.
