@unusual_whales Imagine the history books that may have called this the last chance the world had to prevent Iran from developing nuclear capabilities and holding the world hostage.
"Donald Trump’s decision to join Israel in a war against Iran is a far bigger strategic error than George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq.
It is also one with far greater strategic consequences," per POLITICO
Governor Newsom: The corrupt and repressive Iranian regime must never have nuclear weapons. The leadership of Iran must go. But that does not justify the President of the United States engaging in an illegal, dangerous war that will risk the lives of our American service members and our friends without justification to the American people.
President Trump is putting Americans at risk abroad because he is unpopular at home.
@moksadulweb@ThomasSowell We pay so much in taxes because the government is inefficient at everything. Taxes based on net worth would force people to sell assets that have increased in value- homes, businesses, and farmland. Your house increased in value, now you need to sell it to pay your tax bill.
@ThomasSowell For a person with a net worth that has peaked over $300 billion, the tax bill represents a relatively small percentage of his total wealth compared to the average middle-class family.
Elon Musk: "I am the largest individual taxpayer in history. I've paid over $10B in tax. I thought the IRS might send me a little trophy or something."
@SpaceInvestor_D I strongly disagree. What US needs is three Space. It needs three launch companies that are vigorously against each other to try to give the most capabilities as a country.

"What the US needs is two SpaceX, it needs two launch companies that are competing vigorously against each other to try to give us the most capabilities as a country"

@MicMarWin@mzjacobson Agreed, but still easier to regulate emissions from 1 coal plant than 500,000 vehicles. China is also leading production of solar panels. The US already struggles to compete with China on solar panel production. China is set to dominate on EVs too.
China’s diesel trucks are shifting to electric
"In 2020, nearly all new trucks in China ran on diesel.
...electric trucks will reach nearly 46% of new sales this year and 60% next year."

@AlecStapp Cheap energy drove the industrial revolution. Solar might have higher upfront costs, but with no moving parts those systems could drive the next revolution. Let's just sit back and let China reap all the rewards.

AI is obviously gonna one-shot the human limbic system.
That said, I predict – counter-intuitively – that it will *increase* the birth rate!
Mark my words.
Also, we’re gonna program it that way.
Based on Lazard's 2025 LCOE analysis, the lowest unsubsidized costs are for onshore wind ($37–$86/MWh) and utility-scale solar ($38–$78/MWh). In Texas, these are highly competitive due to strong wind and solar resources, often beating natural gas combined cycle ($48–$109/MWh) and coal ($71–$173/MWh). EIA data aligns, showing similar trends with tax credits.
