My experience with Alignerr as a Generalist compared to Outlier
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a quick review of my experience working with Alignerr (Labelbox) over the last couple of months, specifically for the Generalist Writer - English role. I know a lot of people here look for alternatives to other platforms, so hopefully, this helps.
The Gist: I’ve been working on the Generalist Writer project (Remote/Asynchronous). The work mostly involves:
Educating AI: Reviewing AI generated text and fixing clarity.
Red Teaming: Trying to "break" the AI or find biases and inaccuracies.
Problem Solving: Helping the AI reason through argumentation and tone.
The Pros (and why i prefer it to Outlier):
Pay Consistency: They pay well and, most importantly, on time. I haven't had to chase support for missing logged hours or payments.
The Rates: The stated range for this role is $25–$100/hr. Obviously, this varies by specific task complexity, but generally, I’ve found the pay to be significantly better than what i was getting at Outlier.
The Work: It’s genuinely interesting. You aren't just clicking buttons, you're actually using your brain to fix structure, tone, and logic.
Upskilling: I enjoyed the platform enough that I’ve started learning new skills to apply for other specialized roles on their board.
The Onboarding: The process involved a screening with their AI interviewer (Zara) and some assessments. It’s a rolling basis, so once you pass, you wait for a project match which is perfect.
If you are looking to get away from Outlier or just want a side gig that actually pays, give it a shot. I also have used someone's referral link to join and i think it helped my application and speeded up the onboarding process (i'm not sure though if it actually did or not), but here is my referral link if you need.
(((I’ve actually been told by the team that I should be receiving a fresh referral link in the next few days (since the last one hit the limit). As soon as that comes through, I’ll keep it here for everyone)))
(Transparency note: This is a referral link. I might earn a small bonus if you successfully onboard (not sure of the exact details!), but using it might and i hope help flag your application in their system.)
If you have any questions let me know in the comment, i would happily answer.

MLflow needs a server. W&B needs the cloud.
I'm building mlx — a local ML experiment tracker that works 100% from your CLI.
pip install mlx-tracker
mlx run start --name "catboost-v1"
mlx log metric accuracy 0.94
mlx ls
Building it in public from scratch

Started building my own workflow orchestrator (like Airflow) — “pipekit”
Learned:
• Decorators → functions → tasks
• Task abstraction (classes + metadata)
• Define vs execute mindset
• @task vs @task(args) under the hood
Next: DAG + scheduler
Most important tools to explore if you want to train and deploy LLMs:
- PyTorch
- HuggingFace transformers
- Tiktoken
- Unsloth
- Weights and Biases
- vLLM
- Bitsandbytes
- Deepspeed
- Redis
- Celery/RQ
- Langchain/LangGraph
- FastAPI
- Docker
- AWS or Modal/Runpod

@OjasSharma276 I have been applying for internships for quite some time on LinkedIn, Wellfound, and Internshala, but I’m not getting any responses. Sometimes I receive assignments and I complete them properly, but after that they completely ignore me getting off campus internship is really hard
I applied to at least 50 companies on Wellfound and LinkedIn.
Literally got zero responses.
I genuinely thought I wouldn’t get any internship, but God had different plans. I got an internship on campus at a really nice company where I get to learn a lot and work on a real product.
Today I deeply studied the K-Means algorithm in Machine Learning. I understood the complete logic, implemented it fully from scratch using NumPy, built my own class, and even coded the elbow method to find the optimal number of clusters.

I’m actively preparing for Machine Learning internships and want to build impactful projects. Could you please suggest some real-world ML project ideas that actually help in cracking internships? I’m looking for projects that show strong fundamentals and practical skills.
I’ve completed the ML playlist from CampusX and built a toy project. Now I want to focus on real practice and improve my problem solving skills. What should I do next to strengthen ML,what should I study to build end-to-end ML systems? Would love guidance from experienced folks.
