And we were delighted we could help make this acquisition possible! Given the court book’s condition, you might want to talk to our lovely colleagues at @TheNMCT to discuss an application for a conservation grant.

We were delighted to receive funding from the Friends of the National Libraries to purchase this court book, for the manor of Ventongimps in Perranzabuloe parish, and to secure its long-term preservation and availability. #heritage #naturalengland @naturalengland @FNL313

Amazing to see the Dulwich College first folio and the huge inspiration that it's been to the students. An incredible exhibition of Tudor theatre artefacts.

As we go through these wonderful journals, there’s evidence that their maker performed some conservation himself! Old rust stains suggest that ephemera were originally fastened with a metal pin. These were later removed, and the inserts reattached with a loop of thread instead!

Volume 6 (1926-37) is the behemoth of the JJ Morris collection. 132 pages feature ephemera, leaving the journal lopsided. This unwieldy textblock needed an extra support of alum-tawed skin sewn to the spine so that the structure can flex freely and securely when handled.

Here are just some of the colourful, repurposed boards used by JJ Morris when binding his journals. He would often cut boards off exisiting notebooks or boxes and recycle them. These lovely surprises were revealed when removing covering paper for cleaning and repair.

Many thanks to Ann-Marie Miller @Codex29123 for a very useful discussion based on forensic analysis as to how the Thorpe album came about. This sheds unique light on the scope of this precious collection hence on my project @SoaneMuseum @KentArch @UniKent @BritishAcademy.

A wonderful visit to the Soane's Museum earlier this week to aid in the deciphering of this beautiful collection of C16th architectural drawings. A treat to behold!
