@GenTwoMuch @theterk @mikesulsenti I mean, if you don't care about freedom or being spied on, or having your computer work 100% of the time, sure ig windows is better.

@Codiak540 @theterk @mikesulsenti if you care about owning your computer it's another whole different discussion and completely unrelated. most newcomers to linux dont give a shit about software freedom, which is why im saying just use windows ltsc iot and solves all their problems

You are supposedly a very technical person working at a silicon manufacturer but you are stumped at the first step you are supposed to do when using an Arch distro: Update your package manager database (sudo pacman -Syu) The issue here though is that instead of looking up why or consulting an LLM (you work in AI don't you?) you're here on Twitter instead And you say in replies "well a normal user shouldn't have to do this" Okay. Then don't use Arch. Use Fedora, Bazzite, or whatever (FYI CachyOS has a welcome screen app that has GUI buttons for you to do this)

Another day of gaming on Linux. Or at least trying. Trying to use CachyOS to get the "gaming packages" installed and it doesn't work. I guess I'll spend 15 minutes on fixing this in a terminal window.

@GenTwoMuch @theterk @mikesulsenti it's not stupid if you value owning your computer and having control over it. Also just the fact that Linux is WAY more lightweight than Windows and will naturally perform better under load because of it. Hell I alone saw an improvement from 2 FPS under W10 to 24FPS on UBUNTU.

@theterk @mikesulsenti gamers moving to linux is in fact stupid. it's a whole different OS, and most of windows problems are solved by just installing LTSC IOT. once every 5 years where i need to use a mac i always search "how to do x" because it's a whole different OS, just like linux distros

@theterk @mikesulsenti This is so clearly fucking bullshit. It's one damn command to update the packages. It doesn't take a rocket scientists to know that 404 means "File not found". I understood this shit when I was 9, you can figure it out. with one google query, or just RTFM.

@mikesulsenti It helps people understand that Linux isn't as easy as many say it is. I interact with a lot of people who play on console and they want to compare against PC. My posts highlight where an average gamer will struggle to accept Linux.

@marc0la_ @FranciesLima The only issue with gaming on linux is NVIDIA's drivers being fucking shit. If you can work around that though, it is MUCH better than on windows in every measure

@Techjunkie_Aman This is fucking stupid, it wasn't unexpected, this has been the case for YEARS. A DECADE at least, EVERYTHING has been faster on Linux, I first noticed this when I booted up Minecraft and didn't get 2FPS non stop.

Linux gaming just did something unexpected. It beat Windows. New benchmarks show: CachyOS vs Windows 11 • Up to +27% FPS gains • Most games saw +3–10% improvements • Better 1% lows (smoother gameplay) Games tested: • Space Marine 2 • The Last of Us Part II • Resident Evil Requiem • CS2 Same hardware: • RX 6700 XT / RX 6650 XT • Ryzen 5 5600X Big takeaway: Linux isn’t “catching up” anymore. In some cases… It’s ahead. Is 2026 finally the year of Linux gaming?

X has just "labelled" me for exposing a liars lies Labelled me what, exactly? I have no idea, they never told me. How do I *know* it was for exposing someones lies? *Because that's the only thing I've done with my account.* They literally have NOTHING ELSE to label me for

@NtTestAlertX @LundukeJournal And I can sympathize with them, as I manage a discord server of 300+ people mostly by myself, you will eventually get a bunch of radicals hopped up on some preconceived notion that you're a facist, come in, and just spread lies and be a damn prick, and all you can do is ban them.

@NtTestAlertX @LundukeJournal Yes I agree, if they ban people for talking about this mechanism being implemented, that is 100% indicative that they are for it (or just assholes) However, they are not taking down posts for talking abt a problem, they're taking them down for acting in an illegal manner.

@SirDustyDirks I am a developer, AND support valve, so immediately your "You cannot support developers and valve" goes right outta the window. Secondly, How many employees have Epic Games laid off recently? And how many have Valve laid off?

@Corekane @MrBananaBrain1 @LundukeJournal The BORE scheduler is great, they did remove it from their kernel due to "regressions" but from my testing the regressions were from cachy itself, not bore. It was due to this + the fact that I got a new computer that I setup my own arch install from scratch and I like it more

@Codiak540 @MrBananaBrain1 @LundukeJournal Their BORE scheduler (including BORE kernel) is great especially for older CPUs. They removed it from their default kernel and opt for EEVDF. However, in their 7.0 kernel release candidate, it seems like they brought back BORE to the mainline. Sucks many don't see/use this.

CachyOS, an Arch-based Linux distro focused on performance has: - Taken the top spot on the DistroWatch rankings. - Become the most used Linux distribution on ProtonDB (a website for tracking game compatibility on Linux). CachyOS has also hit 8.5% of all Linux users of Steam (beating out Ubuntu, Mint, & Bazzite).

@goofyperson_idk @riteshpatel1884 @vibeonX69 and most of azure, and even the majority of those sites that use windows rely on linux servers and tools anyways for resolving DNS and all of that, not to mention nearly every single programming tool (that I've ever seen, especially for C/C++ code) uses Linux tools under the hood

Leftist Linux Distributions are more likely to embrace Age Verification. Non-Political or Right-Leaning Linux Distros are more likely (almost certain) to reject Age Verification. That appears to be predominantly true. For example: Fedora, Debian, & elementary OS all have extreme Leftist politics... and all are embracing, planning for, or facilitating Age Verification. Omarchy, Devuan, & OpenMandriva are all decidedly "Non-Woke" from a political perspective... and all are rejecting Age Verification (in some way). github.com/BryanLunduke/D… github.com/BryanLunduke/S…
