I lived in a house that killed birds and it devastated me. So I stenciled the windows with tempera paint and birds didn't hit the windows again. I also think it looks beautiful!
I think all windows at tree height or above should require dots or other patterns to protect birds

I love that the bryant park woodcocks are going viral because there are few creatures that combine magic and idiocy so well but it bears mentioning that a lot of the birds don't make it out of the park alive. Each of these dots represents a woodcock killed by a window strike.

This huge #moth was spotted by our ecologist Ben Parkhurst during recent #monitoring at Hamelin Station Reserve. It's one seriously solid unit of #Lepidoptera. This moth is from the family Cossidae and likely the genus Endoxyla, which interestingly is the genus containing the heaviest moth species in the world, maxing out at 32g! Encounters like this are a reminder of just how much incredible life is quietly thriving on our reserves. 💚
