James Talarico on abortion: “I trust Texas women to make decisions about their own bodies, to shape their own destinies. I don’t believe that’s a place for government. That’s a belief I hold not despite my faith, but because of my faith. Jesus never talks about abortion. The Bible is silent on abortion”

@kdon116 The yearly smart a** younger dude posts mocking anything others say as "boomer." When NASCAR ratings took a sharp spike down when it went to Prime that last all year long including when races went back to NBC. Prime production is great. Its broadcast numbers are not.

Steve O'Donnell ran probably the worst single weekend of racing in NASCAR history. Having 4 days to get in 3 races, he ended the O'Reilly race without it going halfway. He arbitrarily stopped the truck race with no rain falling. Worst he refused to move up the start time of the 600 with every forecast saying rain was coming last night and yet another race did not finish. I commend how he handled Busch passing. Everything else was a clown show, and he needs to get drilled with hard questions.

Steve O’Donnell became NASCAR’s President this weekend. He already was in title. But now it’s solidified thru leadership in the toughest time. NASCAR had a weird transfer of power because of the lawsuit. It’s not weird anymore. Steve O’Donnell is the guy.

Gustafson has been "saved" this year by 2 good weekends surrounded by a sea of mediocrity. The NASCAR media is so anxious to attack the fans for any reason it has used both Elliott victories to go after 9 fans who see the full picture of his underperformance and buy him more time. And don't waste my time with "buried by the metric." Larson, Bell and Byron were buried too and had no trouble coming forward.

Absolutely pathetic. This is why Chase Elliott fans question Alan Gustafson and the 9 team as a whole. Another crown jewel race where the 9 has no speed and crashes as a result of poor handling. Meanwhile, his teammate is up front and leading laps. Unacceptable. #NASCAR

The forecast had said for over 24 hours that rain chances shot up during evening Sunday. Many begged NASCAR to start the race 1 hour earlier as allegedly it has the right to do. NASCAR stubbornly or stupidly did not. After ending the truck race arbitrarily when it was not raining. NASCAR needs to be drilled with hard questions this week. A sport already in a lot of trouble cannot keep doing this to fans.

Congrats to Daniel Suarez. That's huge for him. Gosh dang man... not sure what to say. None of the NASCAR races this weekend had a satisfying finish. Very frustrating.

Was this the worst week in NASCAR history? From the failed Dover All-Star race, Kyle's sudden passing to now a full weekend of half assed races ended by weather or shortened for FOX where we were all robbed of real finishes i cant think of a worse stretch.

@GovPressOffice LOL. You have increased the price of gas 3 dollars per gallon more than anywhere in the country with your Leftist nut job policies. You just want to take cheap shots and nothing more.

The forecast had said repeatedly and consistently that rain was coming in the evening yesterday. If they had just bumped up start time by 30 minutes they finish the whole race. But NASCAR stubbornly, or stupidly, refused. After arbitrarily ending the truck race when it was not raining. It deserves all the roasting it is getting for this disaster of a race weekend. Put the damn NASCAR series fans and races first or finish dying.

Did you miss the part where I said "before NASCAR gutted itself?" From 2005 to 2015 the Coca-Cola 600 drew more viewers than the Indy 500. When NASCAR went to the Brickyard it sold as many seats as the 500. In 2008 and 2009 the Brickyard 400 also drew more TV viewers than the Indy 500. Bot disputing what you say now, as you cannot dispute my actual point - that NASCAR has fumbled the ball mightily and given away a superior position on Memorial Day weekend and overall.

No NASCAR race consistently reaches 350,000+ for a single race day the way the Indianapolis 500 can. The closest historically have been: * Daytona 500 Estimated around 150,000–250,000 depending on era and whether infield/camping are included. * Brickyard 400 The inaugural 1994 race reportedly drew over 250,000, which remains one of NASCAR’s biggest crowds ever. * Talladega 500 and major Bristol Night Race events Historically huge, but generally peaked closer to ~150k–190k range. The Indy 500 is really in its own category for single-day attendance. The commonly cited crowd is over 300,000 and often estimated around 350,000+ when you include the entire property and infield. No modern NASCAR event regularly matches that. That’s part of why the Indy 500 still carries such an enormous “mega-event” aura even beyond motorsports.

I have not always felt this way… But I will concede that as of today the biggest race of the weekend is the Indy 500 and it’s not even close.

@trevor454545 @AustinKonenski As is your right. 'Merica. Although I would say the events of Sunday alone show I was right. NASCAR willingly cut 2 races short it could have easily finished if it had just made obvious decisions everyone else could see.

NASCAR has only completed 94 green flag laps through 2 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. 94 of 201 laps completed at Charlotte. The combined full scheduled distance for the O’Reilly/Truck races is 334 laps.

Of course they should have moved up the start. Just a 30 minute earlier start and they get the whole race in. Word was Fox pushed back because they had the F1 race and did not want to overlap. At no time ever should NASCAR have agreed to a TV contract where another series gets precedence over NASCAR. Just like trucks got cut short by TV forcing another series to take precedence. Rain happens. Some of this weekend was unavoidable. But with 4 days to get in 3 races they could have finished at least 2 of them easily on Sunday alone. NASCAR screwed up badly and the fans paid the price for it.

NASCAR didn’t have any of three races go the scheduled distance at Charlotte. This was the most frustrating racing we’ve had in a long time. From the decisions in O’Reilly to a running clock in Truck… Now, a 600 that wasn’t even a 600 because of rain. The fans got screwed.

Bro, I am a combat vet who buried colleagues. I know what this weekend it about. As such a vet we don't expect people to be all up in their feels and stop living normal life. Actually kind of the point of what we fought for. The freedom to b*tch like hell about racing and other things that make life here in 'Merica.

NASCAR is the worst run sporting organization in the world. Not moving this race up an hour because of an F1 race is massively idiotic. Beyond any defense. The whole point of the 600 is the length. Yet here we are seemingly OK with running the Coca-Cola 386 so TV does not cut a single minute of a freaking F1 race. It is only the intense loyalty of what is left of its fan base that keeps the clown show alive.
