Today, Friday the 13th 3/13, is my birthday. I turn 31. I am married 3 years this year and this year my first child will be born. Romans 12:1 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” At 31 I am grateful for all that I have been blessed with in this life. Today I am a carpenter by trade. I have traveled the world preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ across 4 continents in 8 countries. My wife and I helped plant churches in Colombia, Cambodia, and Kenya.. we’ve spent weeks in Cambodia working with women who have been trafficked helping them create life skills and get them out of the streets. We’ve confronted the shame culture in Southeast Asia, the power culture of countries in Africa and the Arab world, and the sin and forgiveness culture here in America. The Gospel remains the same. I have witnessed genuine, medically confirmed miracles in the streets of Kensington Philadelphia, where we enrolled 4 addicted souls into the Philly Dream Center. I have been a part of a half dozen exorcisms, baptized a dozen souls, and seen hundreds commit their lives into the arms of Christ, I am a part of a global intercession team, my wife and I are both on the mission committee at our home church. This is a short list in light of all the Lord has blessed me with. That’s what my life looks like today. Go back 5 years and you will find me behind a bar, 150mgs addy, doing blow 5 days a week and drinking 7. I spent my 20’s as a bartender making a lifestyle out of hedonistic degeneracy. I was a practicing occultist seduced by some thrice great loser into delusions of spiritual mastery while acting out a philosophy of “dead by 30” and partaking in a slow suicide. Already dead. I partied on the boats of A-list celebrities and one of the Avengers even spent weekends at my house where we got high and made crappy music together. He needed a connect and I worked at a cool bar on the lake where he was shooting. The enemy was working overtime to make my life seem too “cool” to give up. The enemy, for all his cleverness and knowledge, is an absolute dolt and powerless in the face of the Holy Spirit. I’ll leave my conversion story for another day. Thank you Jesus for the work you’ve done in my life. Thank you for your Holy Spirit and the work you’ve trusted me to steward. Lord I pray for more of your Spirit, more of your mercy, more of your grace! I praise your name Jesus. I love you God, thank you for another year.

On the Teleological Purpose of the Technology That Enabled Bitcoin Do not confuse immediate effects with ultimate purpose. Bitcoin and its rise are effects. The underlying technologies did not come into existence merely to produce Bitcoin, but to make “Bitcoin-like” phenomena possible. The teleological function of blockchain/DLT is the creation of vehicles whose value and legitimacy are generated through mass social consensus; bottom up instead of top down (and this is at risk of top down influence on seemingly bottom up vehicles [i.e. btc]). Bitcoin is simply the first large-scale manifestation of this principle not its final or exclusive expression. Many may disagree (and that’s fine) but a hyperbitcoinized world does not resolve the problem of a permanent underclass. No system does. What may partially (and imperfectly) address that problem is the perpetual intragenerational creation of new consensus asset(s). The aforementioned tech coupled with mass social media has accelerated this process, and will continue to do so. We, the masses, have been given tools and we must use them. There is no utopia.
