This attack on Breakfast Clubs from a Reform council leader is ignorant. Breakfast clubs aren't just about nutrition, they mean the child is more ready for formal classroom learning as they have already been in a school environment for c45 mins. They enable working parents to get to work earlier and earn more. And having visited some in my constituency it is obvious the children enjoy being there!

I just don’t think there should be a leadership challenge. Keir Starmer has a massive mandate given to him by the British people at the general election. I don’t think anybody in the Cabinet has a right to try to overturn that. I still hope there won’t be a leadership contest. At Gillas Lane Primary, the new free breakfast club is delivering calmer classrooms, higher standards and happier children. Labour is rolling out breakfast clubs across England to give every child the best possible start to the school day.

This is a good move from Ed. Our part of the North Sea is all but empty of oil and gas, less than 10% remaining and just ten years from being done. Right now it’s a major distraction for the anti 'green economy' voices, who point illogically to more drilling as the answer to the fossil fuel and energy bill crisis we’re enduring again - second one this decade, prob won't be the last. The North Sea oil era is over. We need Energy Independence from our own green sources and vitally we still need to break the link to prevent global oil shocks from driving our wind and sun prices up.
