The BIA has just released its Influencing and Shaping Our Sector: Q1 Report ➡️ shorturl.at/GTDdH As we head into spring, we’re recapping a hectic start to 2025 for the BIA policy and public affairs team. Our latest quarterly report spotlights key areas where we’ve been representing the voice of UK #LifeSciences to government, such as: 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 BIA played a central role in shaping the upcoming Sector Plan, due for publication in June. With representation across key task and finish groups, we helped define the sector’s vision and strategic recommendations. BIA members also fed directly into the plan through roundtables, including one at 10 Downing Street, ensuring SME needs are front and centre. 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 We reviewed the Government’s early findings from its Industrial Strategy consultation and were pleased to see many of our priorities reflected. The consultation will inform the Government’s 10-year plan to create certainty and stability for businesses to invest and grow. Access to finance was highlighted as a major barrier to growth, especially for SMEs, aligning closely with our messaging. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 In parallel, the Government is also conducting a #SpendingReview. The decisions made in this review will determine public spending from 2026 to 2030 – with real implications for delivering the ambitions of the Sector Plan. BIA submitted its initial response to HM Treasury, laying out investment areas needed to strengthen life sciences.
