
Hi Jack :) Yes the first week is definitely a fast. After that, you don't need to fast. What you do is eat 6 times a day; 1 fist is the amount of food, 6 times a day. If extra hungry you can do 2 fists.
The key is that you mix what you eat, per a schedule laid out in the book, where you eat fats, protein, carbs, fruit/sugar, veggies. Also cheat days with sweets and/or alcohol. Once in ketosis this method still works and it is easy!
Well....kind of easy. I had a hard time understanding the "food mix schedule". My wife understood it (nurse in California) and she made my schedule. It super duper worked :)
