I don’t mind the City Connect series at all, but I don’t think it makes any sense when they have the team name on the chest, or a single letter, rather than the city the team plays in. The whole point of the program is to represent the city, not the team. The yellow Red Sox city connects from 2021 were polarizing, but I thought they were great because they were representative of the city of Boston. It’s the colors of the flag of Boston, there’s nods to the Boston Marathon, and most loudly, it says “Boston” across the chest. The green ones they released in 2025 are objectively a better looking jersey, but printing “Red Sox” on the chest doesn’t make any sense to me the spirit of “City Connect” as a program. I think we’re in a period of hyper criticism towards new sports jerseys. I’m more in the party of I want them to look cool, but also make sense. I feel like sometimes the city connect jerseys are just randomly thrown together elements because the teams forgot they had to make one. I want the Yankees to get one eventually, but I also don’t want it to look silly.

I’m introducing one of my new projects: The Red Sox Uniform Tracker, which I plan to update daily after the final out of every game. Just one of many things I’m excited to track this season.

The white and gray are still home and away obv, but I think yellow is now the home alternate and red is now the away alternate, with green being the city connect on home Fridays. But we always had no names at home and names on the road, so reds away w/ no names is weird.
