@andreperrotta13 So if they want to extend DJ they're going to have to clear some room. Dax's cap hit wouldn't change with an extension but DJ's sure would. And if they wanted to add any other vets beyond league minimum, they'd have to make some more room too. Will we finally get a restructure?

With Dexter Lawrence on the books, and Ja'Sir Taylor and Kyle Dugger finally accounted for, the Bengals currently have 71 players under contract. Using offseason Cap accounting rules (Top51/53), the Bengals currently have $4,720,433 in Cap Room. Bengals with seven draft selections (currently), so if they make seven picks, they can sign 12 UDFAs at most following the Draft unless they make corresponding cuts (wouldn't be surprised if some cuts on the fringe happen before Thurs.)

@BenchwarmerBran And THEN the next off-season the Bengals offer him a 3 year, 90 million dollar contract extension during his age 31 season that he doesn't take because of year 2-3 guarantees, and then earns LESS money per year on a deal with the ravens because of a lingering back issue.

Curious what you guys think, does this Dex trade make any sense with the context that they could’ve just not treated Trey Hendrickson like shit, extended him, and kept the 10th pick? I know he and Dex do some different things but is their net impact not about the same?

@DarthNoobSaibot @getnickwright This idea that a pick is worth the same every year, and that a pick at a certain spot automatically turns into a almost expected level of player because of the draft slot is pretty insane. But then also projecting no one to be there after criticizing is objectively hilarious

@FTFonFS1 @getnickwright They realistically have Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase together for 2 more seasons. They have both OT's locked in for two more years, three edges for at least two more years, the DT room for 2 more years. It is not hard to see why they feel the time to go for it is right now.

Did the Cincinnati Bengals make the right move trading for Dexter Lawrence? Statistically speaking, they did. Of the last 20 players selected 10th overall... 25% were great 35% were decent 40% were busts The Bengals landed themselves a sure thing.

That the Giants had to debate and think about if the 10th pick was enough, preferring to still keep Lawrence tells you all you need to know.
