Real question: does con staff have any training on spotting child trafficking? At my hotel job, we were trained that if I saw an underage guest with an older male who wasn't family, and they were holding hands. I'd have to let my manager know immediately. Poor child :(

A North Texas man will spend years in federal prison after transporting a minor to a furry convention in Georgia, sexually abusing them, and commissioning artwork of sexual acts between the victim and his "furry persona." On July 13, 37-year-old Joseph Ray Robertson pleaded guilty to transportation of minors and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Tuesday. Judge Richard Schell also imposed a lifetime supervised release on Robertson. Prosecutors said in 2024, Robertson transported a minor from Frisco to Atlanta, Georgia to a furry convention.

@sigraenn Although I appreciate your post, I think pointing the finger at people is also not the best way, and it may push the problem at hand away. We should have more widespread training and knowledge. And Cons should have tools in place to help victims.

@DarkWolf80s The use of AI to vibe code parts implies a further recklessness with the code. As always, AI code is still your responsibility, to never go live with code unless you understand it exactly. That said, users should probably use burner data when using someone's pet project app.

@dirdwolf I have no idea, but these types of training videos are so easy to implement, just the same as a health and safety one. Fucking wild cons don't do that shit already, with how many children are in it. Even some Anime conventions do this now.

@kadinsswitch @Melvis_Barksy Prompting == Vibecoding. Prompting means telling an AI exactly what you want it to do, while Vibe coding means building software mainly by describing the outcome. Finn was always transparent on his github as someone who actually checked it regularly when it was new.
