My mom often reminisces on the time she saw a dude in a full “maid “ getup / horse latex gimp suit. Back when I was bringing my mom to MFF in my late teens. Whoever it was was making horse sounds and stomping and it made her very uneasy — But she tells me she held it together cuz she needed to make it to the MFF bar 💀

another day hanging out with the people in my town and having a blast! at this point, i think if you are one of those "anti furs" or whatever, you'd be pretty quickly kicked out of any establishment in my rural town if you caused trouble.

@dirdwolf @ColeWuff Same. We all want to do the right thing but as we can see the fandom is terrible at policing actual issues while elevating everything that is borderline inconsequential.

Real question: does con staff have any training on spotting child trafficking? At my hotel job, we were trained that if I saw an underage guest with an older male who wasn't family, and they were holding hands. I'd have to let my manager know immediately. Poor child :(

@friskyfoxlog @ColeWuff It's also not entirely my choice though. I can't just wave a magic wand and do what I want all the time, but It's something to consider if that's what the attendees want. I only want to do the right thing.

@friskyfoxlog @ColeWuff Checkr reports background checks at $30? Have about 300 staff? that's $9000. How much does the main stage cost for us? AV contracts, even for basic stages easily surpass 45k. I might be willing to make concessions to keep people safe, even at 10k, it's a drop in the bucket.

you’re welcome, and thanks for hearing me out, genuinely. now that we got that out of the way, let’s look at this post you made. you said i shouldn’t be in charge of a soda fountain because I’m unstable. I just said that I don’t care about slushee and never have, they can go to lvfc if they want without issue. their prediction about me immediately failed the moment new information appeared. by your own admission, you think cons should be 21+, i assume to protect kids. yeah, lvfc is 21+, and i had a part in making that a reality. maybe you’ve seen how successful lvfc has been. thousands of people have come through over the last four years and had an incredible time with remarkably few major issues. i don’t take all the credit, because there are a lot of amazing people that make that happen, but i absolutely play a significant role in its operations. don’t take my word for it. look at what attendees say every year. i also just spent the last twelve hours publicly arguing that convicted sex offenders shouldn’t even attempt to attend lvfc, and that i want that reflected in policy wherever legally appropriate. unless someone disagrees with removing convicted sex offenders from convention spaces, i’m not sure why that would be controversial. so let’s look at the evidence instead of the insult. i help run a convention that’s been successful for years. i advocate for stronger safety policies… i was elected vice chair because the board trusted me to do the job. i wasn’t campaigning for it. i found out while i was in the bathroom at another con during a board meeting. so if your conclusion is still “this guy can’t even run a soda fountain,” then i don’t know what evidence would actually change your mind. :/ hell, if i did run a soda fountain, half of you would probably be drinking for free while i stayed in the back cleaning the machine because i genuinely give a shit about people, even the ones who think i’m an asshole. x.com/midnightfox699…

Empathy larp in the comment section. People would say things like “he should kill himself” or be tortured js do it to feel good about themselves, like they’re fighting evil. The dude is in jail without a phone. We’ve seen what this does to ppl with false accusations.
