@Ian1892T Just not having them. The standard of the league is awful. There not a top top side. Ye they have won the league but fuck me there grim to watch. 1-0 every week and goal after goal from set pieces.

Not sure the framing of this works when said team has spent a billion. Timing as always plays a part and that's certainly the case here when you look at the quality of the league and the drop off from others. Arsenal won't care, and they shouldn't but it's no underdog story.

@Ian1892T We arent a million miles off them in reality. When others have won it ive been like fuck me there light years ahead. We have a good window this summer we will probably win the league next year. That just tells you the standard of the league

People are acting like hiring Xabi Alonso would be some guaranteed upgrade, when in reality it would be a gamble as well. He’s an exciting coach but we’ve seen plenty of managers thrive in one environment and then struggle when expectations, pressure and squad dynamics completely change. The bigger issue is that this squad still needs reinforcing regardless of who the coach is. The profiles don’t fully gel together. Some players suit transition football, others suit slower possession football, and there are clear imbalances across the squad. That doesn’t disappear just because a different coach walks through the door. People also ignore the pressure Alonso would walk into. At Leverkusen he was building something with relatively low external pressure compared to Liverpool. At Liverpool, every draw becomes a crisis, every decision gets analysed to death, and every breath gets compared to Klopp. Slot has already proven he can handle the Premier League by winning the league title. People brush that aside far too easily because emotions are high right now. Alonso, talented as he is, has not yet managed in this league, and there is no guarantee his ideas translate instantly. Slot has also now had an extra year learning exactly what it takes to compete in this league. The style of football across the Premier League has changed massively over the course of the season. Slot has already experienced that first-hand and will have learned a huge amount from it going into next season. Alonso would still be facing that learning curve from scratch. So the question is, do we stick with Slot, who has already shown he can win the Premier League and back him with the reinforcements needed to fix the squad issues, or do we gamble on Alonso adapting instantly to the most demanding league in the world, even if he is also given those reinforcements? Either way, there are no guarantees.

@PeterSimmoYNWA Alonso isnt a bigger enough upgrade on Slot. He deserves another year. No manager has ever had to deal with the horrendous summer they had. Little bits of bad luck then snowballed into the norm. Injuries have been beyond a joke.

The big fear is what happens if Slot stays & we don’t start next season well. We’re back where we are now But what happens if we get the recruitment right? More pace in the team, more industry in midfield & injured players returning I’m like a broken record but for me…

It's certainly the best marketed league in the world, and now people are talking about it for all the wrong reasons, not the beauty but the pulling, pushing, holding , grappling etc The powers that be need to sort this out, next season I think we'll see a lot more penalties given as they need to eradicate what's happening.... thoughts ?
