I am absolutely bursting with excitement this morning with this announcement after nearly six months' of hard work by very many people. This really is MASSIVE for patient & public involvement in research but there is just the start of a lot more work to realise the ambition
The Health Research Authority@HRA_Latest

Today at the start of @ScienceWeekUK we join other influential leaders to make a strong commitment. Together we will ensure #PublicInvolvement is embedded across the health and social care research system. ➡️hra.nhs.uk/putting-people… #PuttingPeopleFirst #BSW22

Never seen such diverse organisations come together with common purpose and work so diligently, and respectfully on something. Great to work with @cassiopeia789 @acmedsci @SDenegri & champion public involvement in policy research. Next challenge: improve involvement everywhere

Thought of the day Chronic pain patients hide it so well. They have to learn how to function with pain, you can’t just roll around on the floor all day screaming in agony. Chronic pain patients can function at a pain level that would incapacitate most people. #CRPS #chronicpain

It's been, and will be a privilege to be so closely involved in this fantastic project. Making sure the psychosocial in biopsychosocial gets looked at is essential of people living with pain.

@adamfare1996 That sounds like IAPT to me. GPs are often best at navigating the system, so GP would be my first port of call. If it is IAPT, GP should be able to escalate you to get the right treatment - especially if you have what you need on paper. Good luck!

@adamfare1996 Are they offering you six sessions because it's part of IAPT? I had a similar experience having been poisoned by an NHS hospital, and obviously having some issues. They determined I was anxious and depressed so needed six sessions of CBT.... in six months time.

@adamfare1996 Assuming the therapy is for an eating disorder (and apols if that's an incorrect assumption) it's probably in the evidence reviews for the NICE Guideline nice.org.uk/guidance/ng69 - if for another condition, NICE is a good place to start.
