District Magistrate (North Goa), Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, chaired a meeting of the Special Cell on Solid Waste Management on 10/07/2026, constituted pursuant to the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No. 6174 of 2023, to ensure effective implementation, monitoring and enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 along with representative of concerned departments including panchayat, municiaplities, GWMC, GSPCB. The meeting reviewed the mandate and functioning of the Special Cell, the identification and registration of Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs), the status of complaints pertaining to illegal dumping and littering, inspection schedules prepared by the Taluka Level Special Cells, and the framework for submission of fortnightly monitoring reports. Progress of capacity-building programmes conducted for officials of Urban Local Bodies and Village Panchayats was also reviewed to facilitate effective implementation of the Rules. The District Magistrate directed all concerned departments, Urban Local Bodies, Village Panchayats and Taluka Level Special Cells to strengthen inter-departmental coordination, undertake regular inspections of illegal dumping sites and Bulk Waste Generators, ensure timely submission of reports, and strictly enforce the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, in accordance with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, to promote scientific waste management and a cleaner, sustainable North Goa. #SolidWasteManagement #SwachhGoa @dip_goa @DrPramodPSawant @GovtofGoa @goacm

In view of the preparations for the forthcoming Goa Legislative Assembly Election, 2027, a meeting was chaired by Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Collector & District Election Officer, North Goa District, in the presence of Shri Gurudas Dessai, Additional Collector-I, and Shri Pravin Hire Parab, Additional Collector-II, Shri Safal Shetye, Deputy Collector(elections) at the Conference Hall, Collectorate, North Goa. The meeting was attended by the designated Nodal Officers responsible for various election-related activities, including Law & Order, EVM Management, Manpower Management, Training, Material Management, SVEEP, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), IT Applications, Postal Ballots, Election Expenditure Monitoring, Strong Room & Counting, Medical Facilities, Accessible Elections, Transport Management, Communication Plan and other key election management functions. All the Nodal Officers were briefed in detail about their respective roles and responsibilities and were directed to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks in accordance with the guidelines and instructions of the Election Commission of India. During the meeting, it was informed that the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in North Goa District is scheduled to be conducted from 3rd August to 14th August 2026, and the concerned Nodal Officers were directed to ensure that all necessary logistical, security and administrative arrangements are made well in advance. The preparation of the District Election Management Plan (DEMP) was also reviewed, and the concerned Nodal Officers were directed to finalize the plan within the prescribed timeline. The meeting further discussed the preparations for the training of polling personnel, procurement and distribution of election materials, observer coordination, transport management, communication planning, postal ballot management, election expenditure monitoring, strong room security, counting arrangements, medical facilities and voter awareness activities under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. The concerned Nodal Officers were directed to complete all preparatory activities within the stipulated timelines and ensure seamless coordination with all stakeholders.

Pernem MLA, Shri. Pravin Arlekar inaugurated the Jan Kalyan Shibir organised by the Department of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation, Government of Goa, at Pernem. The initiative aims to enhance the outreach of various government welfare schemes and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits available to them. The camp featured dedicated counters to assist citizens in accessing key welfare schemes, including the Mhaje Ghar Yojana, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and several other public welfare initiatives. On the occasion, eminent personalities from different fields were felicitated for their contributions. As part of the programme, MLA, Shri. 🚦The North Goa District Road Safety Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Additional Collector-1 Shri Gurudas Desai. Presentations were made on the State Road Safety Audit and the AI-enabled Traffic Camera & Signal System, scheduled to be activated from 15th July. Key decisions and discussions included: • Monthly review of pothole repairs by respective PWD Divisions. • Joint enforcement drives against drunken driving by the Directorate of Transport and Traffic Police. • Public awareness on cashless treatment for road accident victims through empanelled hospitals. • Removal of stray cattle with active support from the AHVS Department. • Monitoring the maintenance of RE walls of newly constructed flyovers. • Notification for "No Parking" signage on approach roads to GMC Bambolim. • Verification of compliance with "Don't Drink and Drive" signage by respective Village Panchayats and Municipal Councils. The District Level Committee, North Goa was convened under the Chairmanship of Collector (North Goa), Shri. Ankit Yadav, IAS, to decide the claims received under Forest Rights Act, 2006. A Total of 62 claims were taken up for consideration by DLC from the villages of Nanoda and Pansulim out of which 34 claims were approved, 16 were rejected, 2 have been called for personal hearing and 10 reverted back to SDLC for clarifications.

The District Disaster Management Authority, North Goa, in coordination with the NDRF, conducted a joint field inspection of flood-affected and landslide-prone locations at Ghonteli (Keri), Anjunem Dam, Chorla Ghat, and Morlem in Sattari to assess ground conditions and review monsoon preparedness. The Jan Kalyan Shibir was inaugurated today at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant under the Swayampurna Goa Programme, with the objective of bringing Government welfare schemes and public services closer to the people through a single, accessible platform. The Shibir featured dedicated counters for various Government services, including the Mhaje Ghar Scheme (Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction, 20-Point Programme plots, Pre-1972 Dwelling House certification, Grant of Comunidade/ Government land), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and other citizen facilitation services. The Shibir witnessed an overwhelming public response, with more than 300 citizens availing services at the various Government counters established at the venue. Citizens received on-the-spot guidance, assistance, application support, grievance redressal and information relating to multiple Government welfare schemes and public services, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to responsive, transparent and citizen-centric administration.

A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC), North Goa was chaired by the District Magistrate Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS today to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth, fair, and secure conduct of the NEET examination in the district. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Collectors, Mamlatdars, representatives from the NTA, Centre Supervisors and line departments including Police, Education, Higher education, Health, KTCL, Electricity Department, IT department and officials associated with the examination process. During the meeting, a detailed review of the preparedness of all examination centres was undertaken. The District Magistrate directed that all centres ensure adequate infrastructure, including uninterrupted power supply, CCTV surveillance, drinking water facilities, sanitation arrangements, and proper seating arrangements for candidates. The status of security measures, including deployment of police personnel, secure handling of confidential examination materials, frisking protocols, biometric verification, and prevention of unfair means, was also reviewed. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring a hassle-free experience for candidates. Directions were issued for proper traffic management around examination centres and facilitation of candidates with disabilities and special needs. KTCL was instructed to arrange for special buses for the candidates and give advance publicity regarding the same. The Health Department was instructed to make provision for medical teams and ambulances at all the exam centres. The District Magistrate stressed the importance of strict adherence to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
