The 1st play #agathachristie wrote was 'Black Coffee' (1930) & is a great read. The playscript was 1st published by Ashley in 1934. This is the 2nd printing from 1939 that was owned by Christie's theatrical agent L. E. (Leonard) Berman - a unique Christie collectible. #theatre

@djmackler For me, Appointment with Death is better as a play than a novel. Her modified story is much more unique and a great twist.

@CollectChristie I love that she rewrote her own material when she adapted for the stage. Murder on the Nile is Death on the Nile without Poirot; Appointment With Death has a different murderer; Witness for the Prosecution has a coda that improves the payoff big time (also used in Wilder’s film).

Arguably one of the most successful writings by #agathachristie but perhaps read by very few fans? The playscript of The Mousetrap (1st edtn 1954) is still in print. I highly recommend reading her plays - after all she is the most successful female playwright of all time #theatre

@rd5623442666978 Reading plays is certainly a different experience but I believe worth doing. I think the more plays one reads the more used to a narrative only format one becomes.

@CollectChristie Been collecting the Tom Adams covers since I was about 18. Always planned to get my favourite ones scanned and put a freeze of them on the landing. Do you know if they are available as prints?

A couple of previously unseen studio photographs by Tom Adams that he staged to create his covers for #agathachristie's Fontana paperbacks 'A Pocketful of Rye' (1966) and '4:50' from Paddington' (1967). #coverart

@ArmchairSleuth Agreed - it's always interesting to see what titles a publisher places in an omnibus. 'Destination Unknown' might have been a better choice.

Great to see an older Christie. When thinking of spies in crime fiction, my mind does not immediately jump to Murder in Mesopotamia. #MurderEveryMonday

For #murdereverymonday a 1968 #agathachristie omnibus - SPIES AMONG US (Dodd, Mead, USA) - featuring They Came To Baghdad, N or M? and Murder in Mesopotamia. It's hard to find true 1st edition Christie omnibuses as most quickly went to book club editions after short print runs.

'Curtain Up' by Julius Green (2015). I just finished re-reading this book filled with wonderful insights from extensive research into #agathachristie's stage plays & was again impressed by how much great content there is. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. #BookReview

'Evil Under the Sun' by #agathachristie was published in 1941 just two weeks before Germany invaded Russia giving its title a unique weight in those dark days. This is the UK 1st edition w/ its wonderful map of Smuggler's Island (Burgh Island). #firstedition #rarebooks
