Nobody talks enough about Geraldine Page and Wendy Hiller playing Dean Martin’s sisters in Toys in the Attic.

@DrBuzz_Forensic Ibsen via Arthur Miller adaptation. Enemy of the People isn’t very good, but give him points for trying.

Critics called it Dolores Stillborn, but I think Dolores Claiborne (out today, 1995) is a suitably moody gothic melodrama and another fine opportunity for Kathy Bates to get hammy. Jennifer Jason Leigh is a scene stealer and I love that Maine Island. Icky incest themes by S. King

The Search (out today, 1948) was one of the earliest and most powerful Holocaust films, as a small Czech boy freed from Auschwitz gets separated from his surviving mom. A devastating look at the war’s impact on families, Montgomery Clift is superb as the GI who cares for the boy.

Remembering Jack Kruschen, born March 20, in 1922. Over 220 roles including The War of the Worlds, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Abbott and Costello Go to Mars, Lover Come Back, McLintock, Follow That Dream, Cape Fear, lots of TV - & of course The Apartment! Did You Know? Kruschen is one of the few actors to be killed by Martians in two different movies: The War of the Worlds (1953) and The Angry Red Planet (1959). #botd classicmoviehub.com/bio/jack-krusc…

@CollectChristie I love that she rewrote her own material when she adapted for the stage. Murder on the Nile is Death on the Nile without Poirot; Appointment With Death has a different murderer; Witness for the Prosecution has a coda that improves the payoff big time (also used in Wilder’s film).

Arguably one of the most successful writings by #agathachristie but perhaps read by very few fans? The playscript of The Mousetrap (1st edtn 1954) is still in print. I highly recommend reading her plays - after all she is the most successful female playwright of all time #theatre

@TheMonologist Sandy Wilson was livid that Andrews used all her stage stuff from The Boy Friend in this, but this was as close as we would get to a movie version. But I like Ken Russell’s The Boy Friend, so what do I know.
