WHY would the #WhiteSox sell low on Luis Robert Jr.? Trading him just to trade him is dumb. Even if Robert Jr. plays like he did in 2025...you'll still get something of value for him at 2026 deadline. To say otherwise is foolish. He's elite defensively. Great baserunner. Has right-handed power. And even at his worst, kills lefties (.842 OPS vs LHP in 2025). Austin Slater - a rental outfielder that hits lefties well - got the White Sox their current No. 14 prospect at the 2025 deadline. And Robert is 5x the player. And $20 million isn't bad in today's market. He'd get 15-20 on a one-year deal if he was a free agent.

I’m 1) observing that Robert’s trade value given recent history and contract is likely quite low, 2) not writing off the potential value of Robert to the 2026 White Sox and 3) recognizing that a potentially improved Robert with fewer dollars left on the deal could make an outsized impact on a contender and make a trade return meaningful rather than yawnful. I’m aware that my strategy runs the risk of Robert sucking or being hurt for a team that may turn out to be hopeless, and my thought is that said risk is worth it given the likely meager benefit that trading him right now would convey. Trading him now is the safe an unexciting play, holding him is taking a risk. The White Sox should be taking risks.

I was underwhelmed by JJ Bleday as a free agent option for the #WhiteSox. His presence removing the #Reds from Luis Robert possibility is a bummer though.
