🚨 Victor Davis Hanson: THE SIGNALS ARE ALL POINTING THE SAME DIRECTION No U.S. analyst knows better how to cut through the fog of war than Stanford University Prof. @VDHanson. In the clip below, Hanson, who’s studied how wars end for 50 years, says the tide has turned in America’s favor against Iran. Forget the rancid propaganda flowing from all quarters related to the Iran conflict and how it is going - Hanson says look at how everyone else is behaving. Hanson’s Key Points: • Europeans: They never touch a conflict until they smell victory. Early on? Crickets. Now they’re quietly moving assets and offering support. Pure calculation — they’ve read the battlefield and decided which side wins. • Gulf petro-states: Saudis, Emiratis, Qataris survive by reading the room perfectly. They’re expelling Iranian attachés, silently intercepting Iranian missiles over their capitals, and the UAE just reaffirmed its $1.4 trillion investment commitment to the U.S. mid-war. These are not gestures — they’re bets. And they’re all-in on America. • Al Jazeera: The Qatari state network that usually bashes U.S. actions (and hosts Hamas offices) is now calling America’s bombing campaign “brilliant” and “underestimated.” When the outlet that hosts both the biggest U.S. air base and Hamas praises U.S. effectiveness, the message is unmistakable: they think we’re winning. • Military reality: A-10 Warthogs and Apache gunships are now flying strike missions inside Iranian airspace at will. These slow, low-flying platforms only appear when enemy air defenses are effectively gone. Confirms what’s really happening on the ground. Iran’s only play left is rope-a-dope: drag it out, hope U.S. public opinion flips, pray midterms pressure Trump to quit. VDH’s verdict: If Trump sees it through — and he will — the regime falls. Not in years. Pretty soon. Bottom line: Watch what people do, not what they say. Every player with skin in the game is betting on America. The signals don’t lie. #Iran #Europe #Warthogs #Trump @AlJazeera

Thoughts on the death of Mueller: Trump's first term was largely overshadowed first by Russia investigations, then by COVID. Second term more defined, for good or ill, by Trump's own decisions.

@JFGariepy Well, that was quite an interesting and entertaining post. I do believe that you've greatly overstated your case, as my own experience has been different and I am older than you by a generation. Have you considered that perhaps your tastes run toward such a type?

What is a woman? A woman is a destructive terroristic agent infiltrating your home, and that agent may or may not contain a baby of yours at any point in time. I'm realizing this as I enter a phase of my life where I have 6 children and I can afford saying "no." My conclusions are devastating for the woman genre: a woman is always *never* worth *anything* other than the integral probability over time that she may contain your baby at instant t. Worst, her mere presence, let alone her economical costs, is always an enormous burden and cost on the whole family. The state of women right now in our society is as follows: 1. They are dumb. Stupid as a brick yet necessitate just the right amount of intellectual engagement at their level of cognitive functioning so that they can feel they are not dumb. 2. They are addicted to street drugs. "That's for my pain and anxiety management," they'll say. They're just drug addicts with fully broken brains. 3. They are addicted to psychiatric medications. Any woman capable of displaying normal interactions in a social setting is simply doped on psychiatric tranquilizers to hide the pain of their meaningless existence. You won't notice it in a short interaction but you will when you get to know them. 4. They have behavioral dysfunctions that keep them from entertaining normal emotional relationships with the world around them. Entitlement, narcissism, arbitrary demands, control, capriciousness, self-esteem issues. Endemic. 5. They are intolerant of male cognition, male liberty, and want to acquire control. They will resort to calling the state if you do not comply in order to keep you from having a normal relationship with your children. When I look at all this, and I look at my undisturbed life as a happy father, where I would estimate my current happiness at 10/10, I'm like: how can we make this work? How can I justify bringing a woman rationally into my life? What is the value that a woman with the 5 features above (all women, literally), could bring to my life? The fact is that on a scale of happiness of 10, the current value of the average woman is about -9000. This is why the baby-containing artificial uterus is so attractive. It's not so much that the container itself is so interesting, it's just that it finds itself to be orders of magnitude less problematic than the alternative container, which comes with all of the above.

@awstar11 Many differences. But what is similar is that all of these countries, including Iran, have military capabilities that we find undesirable, yet we manage to abide such things. Stalemates are permanent features of politics and history. Often best to leave them as is.

@benhabib6 @TRobinsonNewEra If Britain wants to go fight this war, fine by me. We Americans are tired of giving up our blood and treasure in conflicts very distant from our shores.

Message to all those who fret about the economy because of the war against Iran: There is always a price for security. If economies were the only thing that mattered we would have surrendered to Hitler. We didn’t. We fought at great cost in lives and money to preserve our way of life. People who cite the economy as a price not worth paying understand the value of nothing. It is that lazy weak thinking which allowed mass migration. And to those who say it’s not our war: The regime in Iran has caused mayhem throughout the Middle East for decades. Our allies have been attacked. Cyprus was attacked. Diego Garcia was attacked. Yet pathetic weak British politicians want to take the easy route. Some fights are absolutely necessary. The war against the mullahs is one such fight. Grow a backbone.

@arihoderyk @Glenn_Diesen @spontes097 I’m an American, and I say it is far too early to judge the success. However, if I were a betting man, I would wager this will not work out in my country’s favor, like so many other foreign misadventures (Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq).

Has Trump found an off-ramp by declaring victory and telling other nations to take care of the Strait of Hormuz? It could have been a solution, but Iran's objective now is to expel the US from the region so it is not attacked yet again. What will Trump do when Iran tells the Gulf States that they must expel US military bases and pay reparations to use the Strait of Hormuz? We are watching US strategic defeat being sold as victory.

@awstar11 I listened to the interview. All of it. He never asserted Israel was behind Kirk’s assassination, only that there were still things that needed to be investigated, and the FBI wasn’t allowing that. You are the one spreading misinformation.

Neither Russia, nor China, nor Iran desire to the dominate the West, to conquer it, to impose on it its own rules. But the West is quite opposite. We recognise by the West the right to be, to live, to be free. The West doesn’t. We hope MAGA was in tune with the liberty. No.

I call them emo-goths. I’m raising two now. So I can see this from the other side. They can be far too fragile and too immersed in digital distractions. Read a book (the kind printed on paper). Exercise. Get a job and report for work. Much of this article (which I read) is just overwritten doom. But I guess I’m just being a “boomer.”

Fantastic piece of cultural reporting by Robert Mariani in @tnajournal. He writes abt "Diner Gothic" as an emerging culture among downwardly mobile American young people. Really fascinating, and explains what I see when I go to Walmart back home visiting. thenewatlantis.com/publications/a…
