Anti localizers when I translate うっせぇわ as “Shut the hell up” and not “Noisy (but I’m being very vulgar)(and also using the ending particle wa [spelled “wa” not “ha”] as a sort of “keeping you the fuck out” vibe and NOT as a broadly feminine dialectical stroke)!”

When I learned the language and realized what they've done to so many beautiful games it radicalized me in ways I can't describe.

I shouldn't need to learn old mandarin to read the art of war, Japan to read goblin slayer and Spanish to read Dante's inferno.

@moefumofu @kingkuni69 @CloudMagnus_ @Nepsuka I do think people who care about accuracy should just learn Japanese, because it is true that 1:1 translation impossible and some of the original intent is always going to be lost in the best of cases
With that said, translations can and should be better than they are

@ZKill25 Chinese is just an ugly sounding language. It's very hard to make a tonal language sound good due to needing to constantly adjust pitch (hence the name) to form words
Japanese is pitch accented only, which gives that sing-songy quality it has, which is pleasant on human ears

Less to do with the language and more to do with JP voice acting industry being way more experienced. It's also why there are more available "good" Voice actors on the JP side than the rest of the world really
