i want to believe, but in real life thats not how it works, sociopaths see nothing when they see a weak person but something to crush and use. This will not change giving them a cat in prison. What is true is people who WERENT terrible but they are in prison (not everyone is a violent monster in prison), obviously welcome the opportunity to take care of a cat, given they can no longer exhibit care to people or family. There is no way a guy motivated to rape people, kill people, steal, if he is in prison hes gonna suddenly turn into a cat parent. Why would he do that when he can keep doing these activities in prison? YOu legit have gangs that just keep the crime life up in prison. What DOESNT exist in prison is the large # of non violent offeners in for drug crimes like "i'm in prison cuz i stole money from a store for dope, i dont like killing raping people and hurting" now that they are sober isolated from prosocial world they do excellent with cats to give them humanity. Nah, these cats are not making the evil good, but htey are helping the good in an evil place from bad cicumstances. They could have been a statistic trying to join gangs or something to get money for dope in jail but instead the cat is like now i have this ting to care for and i will save money for cat treats.
