Emergency services responded around midnight to a fierce blaze, with thick smoke and flames visible from blocks away. Casualties: The initial death toll has tragically risen to 27 people, with many others suffering severe burns and smoke inhalation. Authorities found that many victims tried to take refuge in the restrooms but were unable to escape. Response: Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 35 minutes, setting up an emergency field medical station on the street to perform CPR on victims.
