Rivalry games overrun with away fans have reignited a debate the Sens thought was behind them. Now, they're taking action. A verified supporters database will be created this summer, and renovations for a Sens-fans-only section could be done by next year. ottawacitizen.com/feature/leafs-…

Dynamic pricing has existed for years. Airlines and hotels have used it forever.
But Canadians react very differently when prices might change based on who you are, your data, or your browsing behaviour.
That is where public skepticism kicks in.

@cbcwatcher Your original tweet implies a factual error. “The math isn’t mathing”
I was just explaining what you might have missed: the 2 charts match with the 2 voiceover lines.
I don’t care about the piece, I was offering an answer to the thing that confused you. Good faith, try it.
English

@ColtonPraill Not sure why you are defending it. It is misleading/confusing. Chart doesn't match up with the voiceover. It is shoddy. Is this your hill?

Kids found a handgun in the woods in Newfoundland. CBC makes it a piece about where illegal guns in Canada are sourced
Of "just over" 1000 guns seized in Newfoundland related crime... "Data from 2024 shows the vast majority (148) are domestically sourced, coming from within the country."
The chart in the piece shows only 110 guns that could not be traced
Did the tracing department give up on the other 740 guns? The math in this piece isn't mathing
Even the gun the kids found was traced back to "Georgia, a state with some of the weakest gun laws in the United States."
"When we execute a search warrant, we almost always find firearms. And it's not a hunting rifle. It's usually a pistol or an assault rifle or a tactical shotgun."
This story is missing a few critical pieces of information @brodiefenlon
English

@cbcwatcher “In the last six years just over 1000 guns were sent from this province for tracing. Data from 2024 shows…”
That’s two sets of data defined in words and text.
Could it be clearer so people like yourself aren’t confused by the wording? Yes, clearly.
But it’s not wrong
English

@ColtonPraill It still isn't mathing how she gets from 1000 seized to under 350. Not sure what you are defending.
The math isn't fine... she doesn't explain how the denominator goes from 1000 to under 260
English

@cbcwatcher I agree it’s poorly conveyed, the scripting shouldn’t change tense after “data from 2024” to make it clearer that what is being shown are the results of one specific year.
But your tweet was “the math isn’t mathing”
I’m pointing out the math is fine
English

@ColtonPraill Listen to the story... it doesn't sync with the numbers in the chart, Colton. What exactly are you defending here?
It is poorly conveyed

BREAKING: We've just received the news that the Carney government is appealing the Emergencies Act decision. Today was their deadline. They filed it at the absolute last moment. And we were ready. We are prepared to defend our victory that found the Emergencies Act was used unlawfully and the regulations were unconstitutional, should the Supreme Court grant leave.

Holy sh*t. @WabKinew's government just made using data to increase prices an unfair business practice. This is historic for Canada.
*Proposed bill bans suppliers from charging higher prices to certain consumers based on personalized or algorithmically determined information.

I think I've been wrong on, like, 75% of goaltender interference reviews this year. Hand up: I told @jkamckenzie and @ZakaryMercier "I'd be shocked" if Chabot's ended up being a goal. Happy to be wrong. But this has gotta be more on the NHL than me here.

Canada doesn’t t have strategic oil reserves because we produce over 5 million barrels a day.
Even if for some reason we built a large reserve, we wouldn’t have the pipeline capacity to get it to global markets. We have room for at most 250kbd more right now but they need refineries or tankers to have capacity to accept them.
Great explainer on Canadian pipeline capacity and outlook here: oilsandsmagazine.com/market-insight…
