“82 Sentences, Each Taken from the ‘Last Statement’ of a Person Executed by the State of Texas Since 1984” by Joe Kloc is the single most incandescent/nauseating/devastating poem I have read. Just utterly brutal. nybooks.com/articles/2024/…

NEW: You could end up on a watchlist for fighting back in the class war. The feds now consider opposition to data centers, inequality, and Big Tech as potential domestic terrorism. We uncovered how the FBI is colluding with corporate America to surveil ordinary Americans.

Had a series of heat hives. No problem stuck some cortisone +antibiotic on them and slapped a bandage on top. I now have a different set of hives from the bandage adhesive. Un-bee-lievable.

The billionaire saviour does not help people, neither in Gotham nor in Texas. Batman is a billionaire who watches Gotham rot from poverty, deindustrialisation, and institutional collapse, then decides the solution is a suit and a car and punching poor people who commit survival crime. He could fund public housing, hospitals, schools. He could pay every Wayne Enterprises worker enough to make street crime economically irrational. He could rebuild Gotham's infrastructure from the ground up. Instead he builds a private surveillance system, a weaponised car, and beats up desperate people in the dark. He does not address a single structural cause of crime. He is a one-man private police force protecting property and the existing class order. Just like Musk; wealth built on government contracts and subsidies, anti-union crackdowns at Tesla. He bought a social media platform to push his deranged ideology. Ran DOGE to gut the public services working people actually depend on. And here is the final irony. Batman's greatest enemy, in his most famous origin, the Killing Joke, is a working-class man. A failed comedian, broke, desperate, pushed into crime to feed his family. Batman chases him through Ace Chemicals, a plant originally owned by Bruce Wayne's own maternal family. The man falls. The Wayne factory produces the Joker. Then Wayne spends the rest of his career beating the man his family's business destroyed. The billionaire's factory breaks the worker. The billionaire punishes the broken worker. Forever. Batman helped people the way Musk helps people: by exploiting their problems for his profit. Reject Batman, reject Musk, embrace class consciousness.

The USS Liberty Was Not Supposed to Have Survivors Marine Bryce Lockwood said “a radio operator ran coax cable through a damaged antenna and forced out the distress call.” The U.S. Sixth Fleet heard it. The Israelis heard it too. And the attack stopped. That Mayday saved them but then LBJ called off the rescue. Rep. Thomas Massie said survivors were left for 17 hours, while many bled and waited. That is where this thread begins: the distress call that broke the silence and the cover-up that followed. 3:10 — leaked Isræli HQ audio shows they knew it was an American ship before the attack. Thread for the historical records — with NSA/CSS evidence, CIA files, and the intercepted record showing Isræl knew it was a U.S. ship. 1/8🧵

For those foreigners who don’t understand why this drama is controversial, here’s some context. The webtoon it is based on has been boycotted by many Korean women for years due to its misogynistic and racist content. (to continue)

🇦🇪 The UAE, the chief external backer of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has quietly become one of the NBA’s most important international partners through deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Most visible is the New York Knicks’ direct sponsorship agreement with Abu Dhabi. Since 2024, the UAE capital’s tourism agency, Experience Abu Dhabi, has appeared on Knicks jerseys in a partnership reportedly worth about $30 million annually. The deal also includes branding throughout Madison Square Garden and international marketing rights tied to the Knicks brand. The sponsorship is part of a much broader NBA-UAE relationship. Since 2021, Abu Dhabi has hosted annual NBA preseason games and become a hub for league marketing, youth programs, fan events and basketball development. In January 2026, the NBA and Abu Dhabi announced a long-term extension expected to be worth well over $300 million, including plans for an NBA Global Academy in the UAE capital. Critics describe the relationship as classic sportswashing, pointing to the NBA’s role in helping improve the image of a government that is fueling one the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophes — UAE’s militia in Sudan has been found to have committed genocide, and mass rapes and sexual violence in Darfur, including by the U.S. government. No current @NBA player, and no @NYKnicks player, has publicly spoken out about the relationship, despite the NBA and the UAE’s complicity in the world’s largest humanitarian and hunger crisis. The NBA Finals begin June 3 with the New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs. 🎥 Video from @RefugeesIntl
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Today, I signed an Executive Order temporarily repealing bedtimes in the City of New York so that kids of all ages can watch our team in the NBA Finals. As Mayor, you’re forced to make many difficult decisions. This was not one of them. Go Knicks.
