DUMFRIES Labour's Jock branch MSP Colin Smyth has been in court charged over possession of indecent images of children and voyeurism. The 52-year-old, who represented South Scotland since 2016, was arrested at a property in Dumfries earlier this April. Smyth has been suspended by Labour, now listed as an independent on the parliament website. He is charge with allegedly making a 'Toilet spycam' He managed to pocket over £37,500 MSP salary and expenses in just six months, despite missing 600 votes Smyth made no plea during a private hearing at Dumfries Sheriff Court and was granted bail. Following his arrest Smyth, a married father-of-two, said that he was "co-operating fully" with Police Scotland. He also criticised the police force for releasing details of its investigation. After his court appearance the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service warned the proceedings were subject to contempt of court rules. "Anyone publishing items about active cases is advised to exercise caution. Do not indulge in commentary or analysis of evidence, witnesses or accused."
