We’re all aware of how both of these authorities champion the safety of vulnerable road users, it’s truly baffling why neither of them are concerned and can’t be bothered to fix this.

If you go into central London, it costs you £15 congestion charge
If you drop someone off at the airport, it costs you £7 drop off fee
If you visit someone in hospital it’s £4/hr to park there
If you go to a new city you get a toll, & if you stay 5 mins over you get a fine
You literally can’t go anywhere in your car without being charged
But you’ve already been taxed in your earnings, then taxed your car, so what’s going on with all these hidden costs?

And framing everything through the lens of rights is not Christian, it is Liberalism.
Countries exist mostly through political will, but ultimately by the will of God.

Aquinas teaches us that the question contains a category error. States do not possess rights the way persons do. They possess legitimate authority when justly constituted and oriented toward the common good of those they govern. That authority is not self-executing, not permanent, and not conferred by mere existence. The right to exist framing smuggles in a conclusion. It treats political sovereignty as an inherent possession rather than a delegated and conditional authority. Aquinas would ask not whether a state exists but whether its authority is just, by what title it holds what it holds, and whether it serves the good of those under it. Those are harder questions than the bumper sticker allows.
