@bezalelplace @godlywomanhood I sometimes feel like there’s a story behind some of Lori’s posts. Purely speculation, but I wonder if she did try to be really controlling with her daughters-in-law and her sons told her to back off.

@not_our_guy To be fair, that expectation probably isn’t that crazy if we’re talking about Webbon’s followers. The people dumb enough to fall for his nonsense are likely the same people who would believe revisionist conspiracies without a shred of evidence.

@ComposerDan90 @ryancduff As one who lived it, your worry is warranted. Not allowed to work myself, while he refused to work. Almost lost a child in a homebirth, to which he shrugged. Oldest child is behind in school, same child that ended up in the hospital with his head bleeding while I gave birth.

@bezalelplace @JanaB5555 @RoCa74394915 Interestingly, as recently as 60 years ago it was quite common for Christian parents to send their kids to boarding school so they could be full time missionaries overseas. Isobel Kuhn is an example of that and her children both ended up being strong Christians too.

@JanaB5555 @ComposerDan90 @RoCa74394915 it’s a way to shame other parents/grandparents. Lori is very transactional, very self righteous works oriented. She &ken take credit for their children. Neither of them glorify God. they did it right, so it all worked out. They’ll say “God’s ways are best,” but they take credit.

When a woman on one of her Facebook posts shared how her mother watches her children, Lori literally gave her 💩, saying, "a child needs their mother, not grandmother!" Now she brags about not only spending tons of time with her grandchildren but helping to raise them.

@godlywomanhood So basically have no life of your own, don't follow your dreams once you've raised your own kids, don't have your own adventures, don't travel with your husband. You should also raise grandchildren too, even though their own mother should be with them 24/7 according to Lori!

@RoCa74394915 I think she’s arguing that grandparents have the ability and responsibility to influence their grandkids to become Christians and thus secure their eternal state in heaven. She’s implying that grandparents who don’t do this don’t care about the souls of their grandkids.

@_nomadic_soul Matt has clearly not studied what happens to children who grow up in those extreme iterations of fundamentalism when they become adults. The sad thing is his children may walk away from his faith (and perhaps him) completely because of his insane rules.

@RoCa74394915 @godlywomanhood There’s times where submission leads to more abuse. I watched the new docuseries ‘Trust Me’ today about a new cult leader who emerged within the FLDS. The women’s total submission to him meant they even handed over their children to someone they knew was a sexual predator.

@SassySouthBlond I suspect the churches who shut her down realised her teaching wasn’t biblical and that she had some pretty serious issues. I’m glad they had the sense not to give her any kind of authority over the women in the church.

@autocorrect2_0 Paul Washer once said something to the effect that anytime a secondary doctrine is elevated to the same level or above the Gospel, it quickly turns into a doctrine of demons. I’m inclined to agree with him as I’ve seen ministries derail in that fashion and even turn cultic.
